Just thought I`d mention the excellent refereeing by Richard Silverwood in last Friday`s Anzac test match on the Gold Coast. He let the players play the game, was always in a good position to see knock ons and forward passes and from memory, only gave two penalties in the whole game. What a welcome change from the whistle blowers who constantly have us tearing our hair out by coming up with ridiculous, pedantic penalties for minor infringements. Obviously Mr Silverwood has played the game and knows when players are trying to cheat as against genuine attempts to play to the rules. I hope they keep appointing him for future Australia/New Zealand matches,as we`ll know for sure whoever wins will have done so without the help of dubious refereeing decisions.
A good referee

Maybe the Australians will be impressed enough to 'allow' him to referee their International matches instead of insisting on Mr. Archer?
I'd still prefer neutral referees for all matches.

Yes,the Australians have had their own way for far too long when it comes to refereeing appointments, but maybe the Kiwis and England have finally had enough and insisted on neutral officials for all international matches,as it should be anyway. How long it will take for them to insist on the two referee system as played in the NRL is anybody`s guess, but if all top referees are as competent as Mr Silverwood is,the current situation should be easily retained.
