Ricky Stuart is looking to choose the NSW team to take the field in Origin 1.

The team below is largely based on form as defined by our Fantasy League - points earned in the 2011 season so far.
It has been tweeked by fans views as sent to FoxSports

1. Josh Dugan (124 Fantasy points)
2. Will Hopoate (369 Fantasy points)
3. Mark Gasnier (365 Fantasy points)
4. Jamal Idris (253 Fantasy points)
5. Akuila Uate (262 Fantasy points)
6. Jamie Soward (293 Fantasy points)
7. Mitchell Pearce (244 Fantasy points)
8. Kade Snowden (224 Fantasy points)
9. Robbie Farah (250 Fantasy points)
10. Aiden Tolman (311 Fantasy points)
11. Ben Creagh (324 Fantasy points)
12. Chris Heighington (314 Fantasy points)
13. Paul Gallen (382 Fantasy points)

14. Michael Gordon (354 Fantasy points)
15. Luke Douglas (244 Fantasy points)
16. Dean Young (133 Fantasy points)
17. Liam Fulton (96 Fantasy points)

18. Simon Dwyer (223 Fantasy points)

It may be more 'scientific' than realistic, but there's probably worse ways of picking a team!
I guess that Blues team would have as good a chance as any against a strong Maroons line-up.
Any changes for you?
Is the balance right?

If Dwyer has 223 Points why is Fulton in ahead of him? From what i've seen of Wests, Dwyer has been much better than Fulton!

Simon Dwyer has the better total score because he's played more games than Liam this season:
Fulton had an early injury which made him miss a few games.

It must be a case of moderation by Fox sports or fans emailing in.
It's illogical given the reasoning behind the list.

Latest Fantasy scores:

Dwyer: R6 ~ 30 R7~ 20 R8 ~ 41 R9 Bye Simon has played in all 8 games for Tigers in 2011.
Fulton R6 ~ 0 R7~16 R8 ~ 51 Fulton has only played in three games for Tigers this season so far as he has had a shoulder injury that kept him out so his fantasy score is misleading.

Thanks for clearing that up ... although from what i've seen of Fulton, both at Huddersfield and Wests he's nothing special, and Dwyer has looked impressive!

So Stuart has announced the Blues team to take the field for Origin 1:

1. Josh Dugan (Canberra)

2. Brett Morris (St George Illawarra)

3. Michael Jennings (Penrith)

4. Mark Gasnier (St George Illawarra)

5. Akuila Uate (Newcastle Knights)

6. Jamie Soward (St George Illawarra)

7. Mitchell Pearce (Sydney Roosters)

8. Jason King (Manly)

9. Michael Ennis (Canterbury-Bankstown)

10. Kade Snowden (Cronulla)

11. Beau Scott (St George Illawarra)

12. Greg Bird (Gold Coast Titans)

13. Paul Gallen © (Cronulla)

Bench: Ben Creagh (St George Illawarra), Trent Merrin (St George Illawarra), Tim Mannah (Parramatta), Dean Young (St George Illawarra).

So some clear and brave, or wrong, choices. No Jarryd Hayne, No Jamal Idris He's stuck with picking players in their preferred positions.

That's 7 Dragons, 2 Sharks, 1 Raider, 1 Panther, 1 Knight, 1 Rooster, 1 Sea Eagle, 1 Bulldog, 1 Titan and 1 Eel

No Idris is a joke. Jennings has been very average when i've seen him this season. Plus how many penalties does he give away for offside from kicks?!

Gasnier possibly out due to "spousal duty",so Idris may get a shot ?

Should be an 'interesting' first match up

The Squads

Didn't see 'Danger' making the Maroons  Solid defensive player though.

I can see this series being really close! Presuming Inglis is still sufferin from the hip problem he got in the Anzac test?

Who else is missing for the maroons?

For the maroons omissions it's best to look at the Maroons thread.

As for Blues:
Michael Ennis has been preferred at hooker instead of Robbie Farah and Ryan Hinchliffe.
No Jamie Lyon or Matt Coopers of course as they have retired from rep footy.
Dugan has been preferred to Jarryd Hayne, Josh possibly seen as the the more rugged of the two and likely to stand up well to the rigours of Origin better. Agree?
No need for Hayne to be squeezed into the team elsewhere either, with form wingers Morris and Uate there.

If Gasnier is available I'd probably pick him over Idris - Gasnier has skill, form bags of experience and back to top form.
Idris is a good prospect but in the tough arena of Origin I'd go with Gasnier - if he is playing. I haven't found any news that he's elsewhere ... anywhere to look?

No Aiden Tolman is the biggest shock for me. Hes been outstanding.

People have said hes not been picked as hes not up for the bash of origin, and wont make the metres he does as he would play less game time. Hes "just a workhorse" apparently. But isnt that exactly how you would describe petero? And he hasnt done bad in origin has he.

Listening to Sheens it seems that Idris is or has been at the training camp with the Blues.

Aiden is in top form and could have been picked without any worries. I'd have had him there maybe instead of Merrin.
Tolman has stood out this season so far by his commitment and hard work. I agree he doesn't burst through the line to the extent of others. Merrin has been in decent form but I'd pick Tolman ahead of him.
Tim Sheens is the bloke who's team this is. He says he's happy with the choices he's made - well he should be shouldn't he.
I think overall he's freshened up the team and at least given us the feeling that Blues might just turn things round.

He has room to tweak things though if Blues don't click as he's wish.

Seeing the team news for both sides makes me look forward to this year's series even more than usual. :)
