If that's true I just can't understand it. OK York won't have brought many, but the current batley team may well be the best they have had in my rapidly failing memory, they were nailed on to win, playing good rugby under one of the best coaches in the championship, and in the top three with a fair part of the season already gone. And the fans had the chance to get their mugs on tellySporting Life says 806.

What do the board have to do to get your lot off their backsides and into the ground ? I know the Rams support seems to be dwindling, but at least we have the excuse of being on a bad run of form. Think KN deserves better (and I'll admit that deep down so does mark sawyer).
York took about 100 or so, bit frightening really that a side playing as well as Batley can only get about 700 or so fans to a home game, on Sky, and coming just after a great performance in the Challenge Cup.

Size of crowds at Batley has been an age-old debate. We have a small fan-base in a predatory area for capturing support (Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Wakefield all on the doorstep). I genuinely don't believe Batley will ever attract sizeable crowds unless we are playing a decent team local to us (e.g. Huddersfield). I suspect the Batley BoD are fully aware of that fact too but to their credit they keep trying new ideas to draw crowds in. How well we play doesn't really come into it IMO - there's a hardcore of 750-1000 at the Mount who turn up no matter what, whether we're playing champagne rugby or codswallop rugby.

IMO a 7.30pm Thursday kick off up at the mount will never attract a good crowd.

I'm a huge fan of the BOD and what they have achieved at the Mount but I was a bit disapointed to see empty stands last night. Were there any offers on for last night? If there were why didn't we know about them? Surely we're missing a trick here by not slashing prices for SKY games?
I'm also confused by our fixtures. The next game at the Mount is on the 12th of June which is getting on for a month away. the last home league fixture I saw was Sheffield on the 25th April.
That means by missing one game I won't be seeing any LEAGUE rugby at the Mount for over a month and a half (granted there was the C.C. game in between).
My point is that it should be one week at home one away. That way at least those who only occassionally turn up to the Mount will be able to remember the last game they went to and know when to turn up next. I'm a firm believer that watching sport is habit forming and once you fall out of it it's hard to get back in, so the R.L. are doing us no favours with the random nature of the home fixtures.

I couldn't make it last night as I was working late so I bought Sky Sports 4 for the month for £7. As I no longer have any real interest in SL or football I was pleased that £7 would get me a couple of weeks of real rugby on the telly.

Firstly, there is the offer, I believe, for Rams season ticket holders to pay £5 to any Dogs match. This was also extended to Giants fans last night.
I am not aware of any other initiatives but coming so soon after the Giants match unfortunately the backroom staff at the Mount were probably fully committed to that game so as not to have the capability to do anything regarding this match.
With regard to the fixtures the make up of the Championship means that there will always be spare dates when there is no game. Unfortunately this is a fact of life at the moment with the present set up but one would hope that with the ongoing review of the Championship/Championship 1 it is one of the issues that would be looked at and hopefully addressed. Why play 2 games over Easter when there are empty dates else where in the season? I have no doubt that the directors at Batley feel the same way as you regarding this but unfortunately that is the way the cookie crumbles at the moment.

We should extend this offer to all other teams on a permanent basis - any season ticket for anyone other than the days opposition gets you in for a fiver.
And all primary school kids get in for free, like at The Giants.

Ooh careful PKK, we had an irate steward on here last season when I suggested we allow primary school children in for free. Apparently they are already overworked and Mount Pleasant is not a creche! Keep the kids out!

tbh i was going to attend on thursday with a batley supporter that i work with (roger t). I phoned batley club office on thursday lunch time and was told entry was £14 with no concession for hunslet season ticket holders. So i went home and watched it on tv.
Hunslet/ Dewsbury sounds kinda similar to me
