I was devastated to learn of the death of a friend and colleague, Peter Birchall who died from a heart attack in Germany this week. He was a loyal supporter of Rochdale Hornets as both player and official for the past 50 years. He will be sadly missed

Sad news as another R.L. stalwart departs! Condolences to Peter's family.
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of......

This is really sad news.
When Peter started his playing career he worked at Dunlop where my father was. My Dad had MS and Peter went out of his way to help him.
I've still got some of the autographs of players that he obtained for me.
My deepest sympathy to his family.

Very sad to hear about Peter, i got to know him quite well at Spotland, a great clubman at Hornets. Think he was the driving force behind the old players reunions.
RIP.
RIP.
A large VAT Dave please.

Very sad news indeed. He was a really hard-working player and leader.

Sad to learn of Peter's passing. Unfortunately, I had not met with him since our school friendship. Peter was a dedicated league man through and through. Condolences to his family.
