Predictions for the future -
Crusaders RL to get a franchise for 2012 onwards -WRONG
Widnes Vikings also to get a franchise - RIGHT
Crusaders RL to do the double over Widnes and finish five places ahead of them -WRONG
Widnes Vikings NOT to dominate rugby league in years to come! STILL TO COME

I promise to pay 10 to the charity of Bomb Jacks choice if Widnes Millionaires finish above the battling underdogs Crusaders RL. I OWE A TENNER!

No scrums is an interesting rule. What are the reasons for that? In my experiences scrums are a genuine attacking opportunity in 9s.

I think I'll be covering all the Bradford games for hospital radio so hopefully by Tuesday 7th June we'll be streaming live and you'll all be able to listen for those that can't make the trip over to Craven Park.
The RFL have got the stadium tax spot on IMO: Adults £6 Children £3.

It's a really interesting idea. Some interesting venues too. Surprised to see Wrexham FC staging an event despite the Crusaders not playing?
Also, would have expected the HJ Stadium event to be the one featuring Wigan, Saints and Warrington playing each other rather than the Co-op Stadium.
Be very interesting to see how this goes.

I would love to see this brought into Super League
There are a number of rule variations from the 13-a-side game including the option for teams to run a ‘powerplay’ after scoring a try which gives them one opportunity to score an additional three point try from the 10-metre line instead of kicking the goal.
It's like the NFL "going for the two" rule.

Is this being televised at all?

I would be attending the Odsal event but I'm busy on Tuesdays.

Great idea. Will attend as many as possible. Could be a really good sideshow in itself.

Would the RFL be able to convince Sky Sports to buy RL 9s highlight packages next season seeing as the already show low level RU 7s comps & the IRB World 7s?

I think they should be at least showing the final at Headingley on the 5th July.

Won't it just be reserve teams taking part? Which coach is likely to risk his first team players in a 9s comp played midweek?

A side that has nothing to play for in the Super League/Championship. There is prize money up for grabs you know

Yep, that's all we need. The SL season being undermined by a 9s tournament.

TBH I am not that arsed if they are reserves. It's a bit of fun surely.Won't it just be reserve teams taking part? Which coach is likely to risk his first team players in a 9s comp played midweek?

I think its a great concept and the sort of thing that no doubt was envisaged from the start of summer rugby.
Doesn't quite work for me on a personal level as its the one night of the week the wife is out socialising loosely disguised as sport, however if you guys could keep attendances up till the kids are old enough to be dragged along that'd be much appreciated!

Don't think of them as reserves, more as specialised 9s players!Won't it just be reserve teams taking part? Which coach is likely to risk his first team players in a 9s comp played midweek?
Also there's nothing wrong with putting young and fringe players in the spotlight, and giving them something to play for.
