It must be correct though as it is all over Haven's forum that Town have signed him!!!! If true, I think he is more of a solid type player rather than spectacular but he will not be up to match fitness just yet as he hasn't played for quite some time.

While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

If he's a 2nd rower then he might be short term cover for olstrum who's out injured, and stack moving to loose.

Good solid player Armi. 100% effort.
Having clicked the newspaper link, it says he was player of the year when Barrow won the Championship, but it was actually the year before in 2008 when we came 2nd in NL2 and were promoted. He played for Leigh in 2009 and 2010.

Bitter jambos, their wondering on their site how we can afford Dave Armistead, well from what I was informed at sellafield I wonder how they can pay a certain travelling forward £600 a week what ever the result, wonder what their young guns and locals think of that?

You have to agree with Mrs Raaz though as both clubs have people within who can't keep their mouths shut with sensitive information. Look how much we pick up off their forum which emanates at DP about Town's business. Someone at our club must be feeding that information and it makes us look silly having to read it on our rivals web forum. Someone leaked the fact that Haven were after Armistead and it might have cost them the signing, that's not to say that it did but until pen touches paper no-one has signed for anyone.

He played most of our promotion season in 2008 at Loose Forward. He's also filled in at prop although not really big enough.

However IMO his best position is 2nd Row. Great 'engine' (as they say) and will tackle for 80 minutes.

Suppose he will slot into loose whilst olstrum is out injured, sounds like a good signing and hope he does well for us. Might tighten up our leaky defence as well

I know of a couple of very good young players who are very close to leaving whitehaven due to lack of opportunities at the club, but as we all know its hard grounds thats making them struggle for numbers in the a team!!

To be honest they will get more opportunities than they would at town, havens reserves are pretty well run and anything is better than nothing.
