Best performance this season by a mile, a country mile. Even worth the £13 entrance!! Helped by the comedy moment after ten when Swinton's Dean Thompson broke through to touchdown over the dead ball line! Valu wins the most improved boxer.
Oldham prepared and played like professionals 20% faster game play than any other match all year. All 17 were up for the game, gave 100%, in my view were just about the best team overall and were one foot in touch from winning the game.Forwards we're agressive in attack and defence.Elly/Gilcrist set the mark with Stenchion and Sutton straight in at game speed with no let up. Really pleased with Isherwood, upped his game and was always a threat, made a try saving tackle midway through the first half. MOM for me was Neil Roden, rolled back the years with his best performance this year.Bentley,Noon and Clough gave good stints as did everyone to be honest. Oldham suppport was top dog, you could tell at the end how the lads appreciated it. If you stayed at home you missed a treat.
So where now, with this level of performance there is hope for this season yet. No let up lads, this is the level we expect! TB's challenge is to keep this level a the standard. Don't let one negative fan get you down.
Gutted though.Heads up

This was a massive performance from us last night and I agree, we did slightly edge it on overall performance. To a man Oldham played with confidence and enthusiasm and gave 100%. Well done to them all. It was also a thoroughly good game of rugby league played on a super surface and worthy of far more support from both clubs.

Absolute top quality performance last night from all the boys. I feel 3 things cost us the game. At 16-12 with about 10 mins to go, we were on their 22mtr, and we should have gone for the drop goal, got the point and gone back at them. They were struggling with us, and I think we could have scored. We need to tackle big players like Phil Joseph round legs as well. There is only way he's going then, and thats to the floor. We didn't do it, and he scored. Finally, the decision with 3 mins to go,Rats from the scrum on their 22, kicked when he should have passed, it was a golden opprotunity missed. should have spread the ball to the outside, and i reckon we would have gone in at the corner, 20-12 up, and no way back for swinton. But fair play to Neil after the game, he said he made the wrong decision.
But hey ho, onward and upward to Donny next week. If we can keep that perfomance and team spirit going, we will beat everyone in this division for the rest of season. Top individual game from Elly, Nobby, Clough , Dogger and Heaton.
Cant wait for next sunday. lets stick up Donny. well done last night lads!!!!!!!!!!. Was this really the same team that played so badly at Cearphilly? Credit to TB for turning it round so brilliantly and for the apology he gave us after that south wales disaster.
Enjoy your weekend boys, you deserve it. I'm off to get rid of this hangover and rest a very sore throat..

Absolutely gutted we lost that game. We played our hearts out and definitely didn't deserve to lose. It was a fantastic game and Swinton fully played there part but without Joseph you have to wonder if they would have won that game, he was absolutely colossal in the second half.
Our defence was magnificent and if we keep that intensity for the rest of the year we will do well. To keep Swinton to three tries was an unbelievable effort.
Individually Robinson was magnificent. We have unearthed a cracker here and he fully deserves his place in the team. Whitmore tackled everything Swinton threw at him and played extremely well in the halves. Clough and the four props were extremely good and M.Roden also played his part. As a team we played extremely well, if we had a bit more composure after 4 or 5 line breaks in the second half we would have won.
That one fan at the end was an absolute disgrace.

Probably the best defensive display (apart from Warrington) that we (Swinton) have played against this season. Both teams looked a bit shaky in attack, obviously two teams lacking their "usual" confidence. Good to see two teams putting in a shift, it made for a really good game. Roden is unstoppable against us, every time he plays, he causes us real problems. Whether you deserved to win? I'm biased obviously, but we managed to have a try disallowed for diving into touch after about 2 minutes and we did gift you your first try. Your second try was easily try of the game though, brilliant hands. Not sure why your lads decided to kick for the corners on the 1st tackle in those 2 sets in the last few mins, you could have really put some pressure on us there (obviously it nearly came off!!!). Good luck to you for the rest of the season, with performances like that, you could easily go far in the play-offs.

Im going to disagree with a few people here. First of all I think a draw would have been a fair result, I cant see show either side deserved an outright victory. Swintons defence was shocking at times, but our attack was alot more fluent than Oldhams, but Oldhams defense was simply outstanding. I was very unimpressed with Oldhams attack, very slow from the play the ball and seem to lack ideas.
For those saying Roden was rolling back the years, you have clearly forgotten how good he used to be. Over the years iv seen him tear Swinton apart time and time again, and last night he looks like a player who has clearly lost his legs and seems to be a bit of a one trick pony with his kicks to the corner.
The defensive display by Oldham was the best iv seen against Swinton all season, however, you may be the first to keep us to three tries, but I think your also the only team to only score three tries. London and gateshead and south wales all scored more at the willows. Swinton looked drained, and lacking confidence after the mauling we recieved last week, and we were a shadow of the team that beat you twice earlier this year, so I wouldnt get too excited.
Looking at your results this year I can see a lot of similarities to ourselves last season. Playing excellent one week and awful the next. Im afraid we have found out the fundamental issue, the coach. I think if you want solid progress you will have to get a new coach. Judging by your display last week the players at times cant get motivated to play for TB just like Swinton couldnt get motivated to play for PK.
All in all you were a much improved side, but I wouldnt read too much into the closeness of the game. If you defend like that all season you will be an extremely tough team to beat, but I dont think you will out score many sides.

Im only smiling because `no-one`'s found the bodies yet.
