Christ alive, man up a bit. Kids are too soft these days anyway, a few nights under canvas, wet through will build character.I've not been camping for years, but I wouldn't want to take kids or women anywhere without showers and a building that you can sit in when it's chucking it down. Otherwise, everything is your fault.
Also, you do need camp beds; not many people can sleep properly on the ground. I used to use an airbed pumped up with a 12v car pump.

Er right, how can I put this? Errhmmm, here goes then. If you were to wake up with your trousers round your ankles, grass stains on your knees and a sore rear end, would you tell your better half?
I will set it up for you, Mick;
No, if I were to wake up with your trousers round your ankles, grass stains on your knees and a sore rear end, I would not tell my better half or anyone else.

You've got the Yorkshire Dales on one side of the valley and the Lake District on the other. Perfect.
I'd also recommend THIS one, just a short walk from a quiet and sheltered sandy beach on the Llyn Peninsula. There's a village shop and a Cracking pub too. All within easy reach of Abersoch and the beaches of 'pen Llyn' as the area is known, but also the beautiful mountains of Snowdonia. It really is an idyllic spot with fantastic views all around.

Cracking pub in the village centre.
Someone mentioned the ukcampsite website. Lots of good stuff on there.

Apparently a very good campsite, my sister-in-law and family used to go there a lot before they move up to Cumbria.

The last government were convinced that we were there to do their bidding. They wasted vast quantities of our money in order to spy on us, intimidate us and needlessly over regulate us, whilst gold plating their own pensions and expenses. Their behind the scenes encouragement of, and turning a blind eye to, the kettling and harrassment tactics of the Police are a shameful episode in our history which we need to remember and address urgently. - Haloman
