Been announced on their web site they they are getting a new purpose built gaff at Agecroft. £3.5 million with a 4,000-5,000 capacity, should be ready for next May. I am genuinely made up for them.

Oldham council???

Every council is living through austerity. Sometimes you have to speculate to accumulate

Fantastic news for them :)
Ain't it funny how you think you're gonna be OK
Till you remember things are never gonna be the same again?
Ain't it crazy how you think you've got your whole life planned
Just to find that it was never ever in your hands?

This is great news for Swinton fans, and very interesting in regards to the construction being done offsite and completed within something like 16 weeks.

When ORLFC folds as it certainly will with the present set up and lack of interest from the council,
Swinton, Salford and Huddersfield's grounds aren't too far away to watch a decent game of professional
rugby.

The stands are a prefab type construction and fit together almost like a system type scaffold. Once the ground has been prepared you'd be suprised just how fast it "slots" together.

It's something you lot could have in two or three years, providing you don't spend all your money on a team to win the C1, which wouldn't get you promoted anyway with Whitebank as it is!

With Whitebank as it is, we would not be allowed into the Championship with the new criteria.

That's the point Saints10, you've got a choice either spend your money on ground improvements or a winning team but you can't have both in the same season.

Not being an Oldham fan Rougheyedz may give me a bit of objectivity that some Roughyed fans may not have.

It strikes me that the £30K saved by not playing at Boundary and the £20K (estamate) on player wagers with the "Made in Oldham" policy would give you a saving of £50K per year. Add to this sales from the bar, car park, pies etc and it seems to me that it's very likely that ORLFC could well find it's self £70K per year better off now than when you played at Boundary Park.

Save that £70K and in two years time you've got an £140K down payment on a £500K terrace down one side of the ground, at that point the average gates of a thousand or so will be acheivable again and investment in the team could well pay off in that you could actually be promoted because at the moment not matter how much you spend on a winning team you will not be promoted.

I don't know any of this for certain, but if CH is an accountant you can be sure he knows the ins and outs of every option.

As i said I'm not an Oldham, in fact when it comes to the Law cup and match day I'm virulently anti Oldham, but I wouldn't like to see ORLFC dissaper for the lack of interest or support or understanding from Oldham fans.
