strong words from the barrow chairman yesterday on the clubs finances and crowds on radio cumbria. appeared to be asking the barrow public if they want a top end championship team or not. if they decide to cut the playing staff could this mean our barrow based players might be on their radar. i hope not.

Well carters on a 2 year deal, so he won't be going anywhere, not sure about the likes of pedley and kaighan. As for mike whitehead put a ribbon and bow on his head and send him up. I think if we stay in this division then most would probably leave anyhow

Des sounded well fed up, he seemed to be hinting that unless 2,000 turn up for the next game against fev he might consider his position. He also mentioned he had ploughed up to £500k into the club. he has been a great benefactor for the club but you wonder what the future would hold if he pulled the plug.

Yeah it's sad to see, I hope they can turn it round but I think it's a long shot.

Des has put 46.5k into the club over the 5 or so years hes been there but that is a the clubs main sponsor I dont know where your figure of 500k comes from.
Its hard times for championship 1 & 2 clubs...the RFL couldnt give a flying #### about the grass roots of the game they are only interested in super dooper pooper league and id love to see a super league club or 2 fold to highlight the scam of it all.

It costs minimum £450k per year to run a successful Champ team, add another £30-£40k if they run a reserve side as well. I think it would be easy for DJ to put in £500k over 5 tears to support his club, after all they were on their uppers before he arrived. I know people accuse DJ of meddling, but he & he alone has brought the good times back to Barrow, without his input IMO we'd be reading a totally different story. Good luck to him I say. Having said that, threatening to pull out won't add a single person to the gates, could be an own goal there.Des has put 46.5k into the club over the 5 or so years hes been there but that is a the clubs main sponsor I dont know where your figure of 500k comes from.

did you actually hear the interview morty??????????????? i said a while ago to someone that barrows crowds were simply not good enough considering the investment into the club and the quality players that were in a barrow shirt. it happened at the recreation ground a few years ago to where the crowds didnt match the ambition. it certainly fuels the pro merger argument.
