I am sure that all the fans who went to Sunday's match went home happy even though we were all a bit wet (that was nothing compared to what a winter match at Watersheddings was like!!). We witnessed a good, solid team performance against a tough and enthusiastic South Wales side and a good game of rugby league to boot. It certainly lifted the spirits of those of us who had travelled to Doncaster the week before and gives us some hope now for the rest of the season.

As there is no first team match this Sunday it will give the opportunity for fans to show their support for John Hough and his exciting and talented U23's team. They thoroughly deserve the support and we should witness a good game against Sheffield, yet another championship scalp for the taking. Something to look forward to!

The following Saturday week we have the opportunity of giving support to our 3rd team. Their coach, Phil Costin, has said recently there is a of talent in the lads he has under his wing and they have been training hard in preparation for some long awaited competitive action. Something else to look forward to!

COME ON YOU ROUGHYEDS

It was a great game and win for the Reserves against Sheffield last Saturday and yet another really good win at York last night. So, now for another match to look forward to tomorrow, with the first competitive match for the u/18 side. It will be really interesting to see the lads who have been training well for some time now under the scholarship scheme and something to look forward to. I hope that there is some really good support for the game.

COME ON YOU ROUGHYEDS

Just returned from the U18 game , A good win of 40 - 0 , unfortunately against a workington town team only consisting of 10 players for 60 mins of the game , Apparantely the better of the players for workington were away with Great Britain .

Either way They put up a very good account of themselves , as for the Oldham lads most did very well , errors and penalties came at a plenty though but its a learning curve for them and the look very strong , Winger from RU came on and scored a great try in second half going 60 metres , our number 12 was full of speed and strength , and number 6 was full of ideas looks like got a good kicking game on him , but to make use of the 10 men the opposition had, they didnt spread ball enough to tire them out . Well Done the U18's a good start

That's right we have 7 lads either away in south Africa or going GB 17s on thurs plus 4 Injured so couldn't play, but for the 10 lads who played 80minutes we were extremely proud but for 2 late late tries score would have been better your number 12 is an absolute unit wouldn't look out of place in first team!

"Imagination is more important than knowledge."

"We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them."

"Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence."

The Workington team were a absolute credit to play 60 minutes with 10 men and still be as committed as they were at the end they should be really proud. I thought the Number 8 prop of yours was a real leader. It was difficult for both sides in the end given the shortage of numbers such a shame as this game as been a long time coming i believe the u18's have been training 6 months now without a game. I am sure several players on both sides will be able to make a step up to the seniors given a few run outs with the U18's
