Brisbane Broncos star centre Jack Reed -- born near Castleford, but raised in Australia -- has not ruled out playing for England.

Reed has been in fine form as a centre for Brisbane --- a position where England is weak -- before being shifted to lock forward. The question is whether England coach Steve McNamara has the intellectual sophistication or personality needed to persuade Reed to declare himself for England.

You are confused.

Steve Mascord broke the story about Reed's comment.

I have raised a separate question about the story: whether Steve McNamara is capable of persuading Reed to declare himself for England.

This is a discussion question which belongs in this forum.

I don't want anyone playing for England if they have to be persuaded to play. They're either desperate to pull on the shirt or they can foxtrot oscar.

I want him to play if he's good enough and will play to the best of his abilities. He has options. You can't blame him for weighing them up.

I'd be straight over there to speak to him personally. I'd have him in the team this Autumn and tell that I see him as someone who should be looking to cement his place for our world cup team.

I've watched most of the games he's played this year and he just seems to be getting better with each game. He's got good footwork, looks to put his winger away and is not afraid to hit hard in defence, three things all our centres are lacking.
