Latest version of Old Moores Almanak has just come off the presses and there are some interesting predictions:

"Workington Town and Allerdale Borough Council will do a deal with Tesco to sell the land at the river end of Derwent Park (the training pitch area) to Tesco and allow them to extend their premises and include a filling station.

Tesco will also build a new roadway in from New Bridge Road to the sea side of Derwent Park.

Allerdale Council will build a new multi purpose sports hall at the river end of the DP car park and Town will extend the grandstand at the back to provide function rooms, offices, etc, and build hospitality boxes.

The usual suspects will be very vociferous saying it isn't right that one club gets this sort of preferential treatment over another.

Meanwhile the Cloffocks reverts to being the largest dogs toilet in the world until someone is blinded by dog faeces whilst playing in the Uppies and Downies and sues the council for damages. Council deny any responsibility as the land is well known as a village green."
I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

How about today's news that even though Tesco intend to build a new store at Whitehaven they won't be turning their back on Workington and they will look either for a new site or look to extend their current site. Town, will never have a better chance of getting funds to do up the ground at DP and have a bit left over!!!!! Let the talking begin.

And we all know how the last cash injection via Tescos transformed fortunes on the pitch.

Rockerlad I don't think Town have ever had money off Tesco. Are you meaning William Low's, many years ago? If so we are sick of hearing about it from certain people because a running track didn't get built but a speedway track eventually did. Is that the answer you are fishing for?

Not a lot happened, they were promoted twice in two seasons, won the league & premiership, & ended up in Superleague, makes you wonder why they bothered doesn't it.

If you hate rl then don't come on to a rugby league board you clown. P*** off and go and watch your glorified pub team, enjoy another season of mediocrity.

i think you will find i give the haven fans just as much as well, and for the record if i could have my way i would have both west cumbrian teams promoted. I will support all cumbrian teams (apart from Barrow AFC and Carlisle United)

Just go away you irksome little man, I'm sure most of us on here are sick of your condesending bellyaching drivel. I sometimes wonder if you're actually playing with a full deck, with some of the idiotic comments you post on here  Just admit it mate...you hate the Town with a very unhealthy passion....why is this...did a Town player drop you on your head when you were a baby ? Not content with the luddites destroying any chance of decent sporting facilities for our Town, it now sounds like you are terrified that Town might get something from any Tesco deal, how pathetic is that, from a so called Workingtonian. You should hang your head in shame :angry2: :angry2: And don't bother giving us that ' I support all West Cumbrian teams' rubbish, we don't believe a word of it

You really are thick. you seem to think you know so much about me when you have never met me.

And you seriously need to sort yourself out. the hypocrisy you spew on here is embarrassing, the bitterness is just laughable. I support town and have zero interest in reds. But at no time have i ever felt the need to put my opinion across on a reds fan forum. Maybe you should stick to your own and stop boring us with your imbecilic whitterings.
