Hornets still refused to lie down though and took the ball up field and got a drop out and a scrum and Saywell dived in at the corner but the TJ had him in touch. To be honest I thought it was the right decision and the hooter saved the Lions soon after.
Stanky must have been very happy at the display as every single player ran his blood to water and we again had some serious injuries to report. Strong was very close to scoring but picked uop a serious leg ( I think) injury and was stretchered off and not long after Gallagher went in with the elbow on Houghy right in front of the TJ who managed to miss it! Houghy couldn't feel his arm after the game and must be out for at least the next two games.
I'd love to see the DVD of this game because the referee certainly miss-counted his tackles on at least three occasions!
Play like that for the rest of the season and we'll win at least 6 of the last 7.
Hard luck lads!

What should be pointed out is that was our first game in three weeks and whilst it helps with injuries and freshening players up i think it did Swinton no favours as we looked very rusty in the first half and that is in no way taking anything away from Rochdale, but really you should have put the game to bed in that first half period when you was dominent.
Pugwash states that you could have nicked it in the last few seconds but his foot must have been in touch, what he failed to mention was the excellent try saving and match winning tackle by Rob Foxen.
All in all a very good game played by two comitted sides and excellent entertainment.
My only grumble was the comments by one or two Hornets fans who were commenting that "Swinton can't continue paying winning pay and that we will run out of money" smacked a little of sour grapes.
Should we go on amd win the league I really do hope Rochdale follow us up as both our clubs deserve a little bit of sucess.
Good luck in your remaining games bar the last one when your back at the Willows.

All in all it was a cracking game played mostly in good spirit and the Lion's relief at the final hooter was plain to see. The last game of the regular season should now have that extra bit of passion and spice after tonight as our lads feel they should have taken the win? Unfortunately our injury toll continues to grow and we seem to be down to the 'bare bones' once again?

The ref was bad for both sides but no surprise there!
Both got away with forward passes and off sides etc throughout the match!
The game was on a knife edge at the end and either Team could have won......luckily (and I mean luckily) my Team did it
Well done Rochdale for a great performance.
Best of luck for the rest of the season.

A bit like your first try when you knocked on a yard from the post it bounced up and the ref waved play on and you scored. Or the knock on when Ainscough hacked it forward and your player tackled him you regathered and the ref waved play on and you scored. Get a grip. If youd played half as well as you thought with all that possession we gave you in the first half youd have won by a mile. Our defence was awesome.Massive injustice tonight, 5 mins from time the Ref gave a knock on as the Hornets ball carrier brought it out from our 20, no way was it a knock on, it was a fumble but the player never lost control I was right there.
Well done to all concerned.

And Gallagher went in with the elbow on Hough. Rubbish. Hough hurt his elbow! Where did Gallagher hit him? Waist height?
Oh and as for offside you were offisde at every play .......or am I just biased or are you?

Where do I mention anything about an elbow by Gallagher on Hough? Its you who needs to get a grip fella or read stuff properly before you rant a load of ######.
All games have a game breaker and the incident I mention was it and most definitely went Swinton's way. Fact.

I can't say fairer than that.
Does anyone know what happened to Strong and how bad the injury was?

As for Strong, I saw him on crutches leaving the stadium with a leg brace on, it couldn't have been a brake i don't think, looked more like a bad knee injury. Hope he recovers before the end of the season.

I had this down as our hardest home game of the season, simply due to the fact that you have about 8 ex-lions in your squad all looking to prove a point, and up to now it has been. You came in with a much better game plan than we did (I dont even think swinton had a game plan last night). You targeted Foxen in the slippy conditions which is the correct thing to do seen as he is a second rower playing on the wing. I think in the end we just wanted it more. The defensive effort put in by Swinton in the second half was immense, ive never seen so many big hits and winded hornets players in my life.
I think a draw would have been a fair result but you got a well deserved bonus point, and can see you lot finishing a strong second provided the wheels dont fall off at swinton...

they were the better team then about 70mins Joseph woke up
we picked up a few injuries again and dont know what impact this will have
As for Could i have a quarter of those sour grapes please?
Course you can on condition you share them with those who sat near us
at the game
