Scenario One:
It's the final game of the inaugural Magic Weekend and you have been given control of the derby between two evenly matched sides and you feel confident that you can handle the high intensity that comes with such a prestigious fixture.
Team L are trailing team B by 36 points 38 in the final 60 seconds, with team L in possession attacking just inside team B's half.
Suddenly the team L player losses control of the ball as the tackle is about to be completed 40m out from team B's try line, but the ball travels back as the tackle is made and a player from team B recovers the now loose ball.
The player from team B who now has the ball was back the 10m at the previous play the ball.
You look at the near side touch judge who waves the flag indicating play on but suddenly the video referee offers you his opinion via the communication earpiece and he says that the team B player was offside as when the team L player lost possession during the tackle attempt, the ball was directed and helped forward by one of the team B players making the tackle implying that the team B player with the ball was offside.
What do you do? You are the referee so it's over to you................

I'd give a penalty to team L.They would kick for goal, hit the post and the full back would streak through to score the match winning try.Job done.Next one please.
Leeds Rhinos,STILL the only Grand Final winning club NOT to have cheated the salary cap.WCC Champions 2012.

"I don't see what all the fuss is about. I mean, it's only fair after last year isn't it? Look Neil, just for you, I've put my best Rovers' tie on today in the hope it'll go some way to make up for it. Oh, by the way, Jon sends his regards."

Scenario Two:
You have been demoted by your head of referees for poor performance in a previous game that caused both coaches to speak out at your handling of the game. You now have been appointed to referee a Challenge Cup 2nd fixture involving two conference sides, team F and team S.
Team S are attacking 20m out from team F's tryline when on the last tackle team S put boot to ball.
The ball is fielded by team F's fullback who takes the ball and tackle just 1m from the team F tryline.
The fullback in his hastiness to get his team moving plays the ball at an angle of 20 degrees to the right of the original tackle and in his hastiness hasn't checked to make sure that an acting half back was present when the attempt to the play ball began.
Resulting in the front marker for Team S diving behind the tackled player playing the ball and reaching the ball over the try line in a clean act.
What do you do? You are the referee so it's over to you................

I'm not after any bites.
The Observer has a very good "you are the ref/umpire" section in the sports pullout and I thought I would translate that on here.
