Hunslet Hawks RLFC have agreed to release Richard Chapman with immediate effect from the remainder of his contract.
Director of Rugby Darren Williams said " Reluctantly I have agreed to Richard's release citing lack of first team rugby as his main concern, he hasn't featured since our defeat at Leigh in May and has just been granted a well deserved testimonial from the RFL for 20 years service to the game. "
Williams added " He played a major part in our promotion to the Championship and was a firm favourite with the supporters and will always be welcome back at South Leeds, he is currently looking for a club and wants to make the 2012 season his last. "

That's the worrying thing for me, Luke haigh isn't in chappys league and for some reason he gets picked in front of chappy. Can't understand the reasons behind it. I really hope this isn't gonna cost us big time
Good luck chappy a great player who gave your all for Hunslet.

Have to agree with you fully there Macca - same for the second row positions.
Thanks for all you've done for us Chappy - you've created some memorable moments - most recent being the finishing off of that try at Leigh !!
Also the key reason we unlocked the Sheffield defence at Don Valley earlier this season.
Good luck in all you do and thanks for your recent loyalty.

have hunslet once again shot themselves in the foot ? seems to be a bad habit ,any prospective players may take a look at this sort of stuff , before putting pen to paper

what a daft statement!!any prospective players may take a look at this sort of stuff , before putting pen to paper
I'm sure chappy, and any other player, would hate the fact that the club have allowed him to move on mid season rather than forcing him to see out the rest of the contract whilst not getting picked.

why is it a daft statement , u let a player of chappys calibre go to keep a young inexpirienced player certainly not proven at this level, u all know why he wasnt being given a fair crack of the whip , marchy will always play his mates simple , so who will want to join the club knowing that factwhat a daft statement!!

Hunslet did the right and honourable thing releasing him from his contract. Good luck to him in the future wether it be at Dewsbury, York, or a Championship 1 club.
Thanks for all you did for Hunslet Chappie.
His full playing record for Hunslet-- played 69 --- tries 25-- goals 6-- drop goals 2- total points = 114

How can a player have these stats and be surplus to requirements? It beggars belief, This could turn out to be a make or break point for Marchy in terms of his Job, we get relegated now the question that will be asked is why wasn't chappy picked?

because his defence is weak, and he doesn't have the speed any more to really trouble teams in attack ?How can a player have these stats and be surplus to requirements? he changed many a game for you lads soon as he came on,he might a lost a touch a pace but made up for it with knowing just who and when to get the ball to and am sorry if you think chappie as poor defence you need to check out some younger fitter players at your place who look well off it come game day, never seen chappie ever give less than 100% chose who hes played for and i hope he gets a chance to prove a few wrong and turn a few things round at dews if indeed thats were hes at next. ALL THE BEST RICHARD LAD.a top bloke too.because his defence is weak, and he doesn't have the speed any more to really trouble teams in attack ?

I agree he was by far the best hooker at Hunslet. The other 2 aren't fit to lace his boots. It's sad times when you cant get a game cause you won't suck the coach's co*k. Maybe if he'd been in the chip shop gang he might have been a regular starter

Could I ask how old is Chappy?
He is 35.
He doesn't get picked because Marchy didn't sign him its as simple as that. How many players is there left that wwas there when Marchy took over? I know he got promotion last season before anyone jumps on my back, but you get what i'm saying.
As for the statement of his defence, yes its not the best but neither is your player coaches, (and i say it to his face too) Chappy has the ability to turn a game on its head when he is introduced off the bench. As for the 2 he has kept well i'll keep quiet on that front.
All the best Chappy, i know how you feel.

Always rated Chappy and always had some pretty good games against Batley.
He might be getting on a bit and not as quick as he used to be, but surely his experience and quick thinking could play an important part in the remaining games you've got left, which are obviously crucial. Even if its off the bench as an impact player for a couple of 15 minute bursts.
There's not many more dangerous from dummy half a few yards out at this level, as his try scoring record shows.
Not my place to question Hunslet, but doesnt seem a logical move. Even more so if he ends up at one of your main relegation rivals.
