Everyone welcome whether you've entered before or not. There's just five games in the round this week with six teams having byes..
ROUND 17 QUESTIONS:
*Poll Competition:
Poll Question:
How many teams will end up with only single figure scores at the full time whistle in round 17?

...And now the main event of the week
*Match Tipping Competition
Name the 5 (that's FIVE) winning teams in NRL Round 17 2011
*Points Competition
How many points will be scored by all the teams added together in R17?
This is a competition in itself and will act as a tie breaker for the match tipping comp if necessary. This is used as the decider when necessary so do give it a go.
*HOME Win Competition:

How many home wins will there be in R17?

In rounds where the game is on the road and played at a neutral venue, the team named first in the fixture will be regarded as the home team for the purposes of this competition.

Animated awards will be given for the winner(s) of each competition question. If you are new, see previous competition threads to get the idea of them.
Match tipping scores are added together.
See our Tipsters' Ladder pinned to the top of the forum topic list page.
New entrants are always welcome: entering the comp is a great way to get involved in every game of the NRL this season.

The best of luck to everyone

Well there's plenty of variety in the tips posted so far. We've already got a difference of opinion on every one of the five games.

NRL R17 2011
Friday Result:

Parramatta Eels 12 - 16 Brisbane Broncos

I couldn't help feeling for Nathan Hindmarsh at the end of this game. He put absolutely everything into the match. he tackled like a demon throughout and led his team by example. Ells clawed there way back to 12-12 after being behind most of the game only for Matt Gillett to make a move out of nowhere to score a terrific match winning try for the Broncos.
Broncos fans deserve to feel both happy and proud of their team who, according to the commentary team were all 22 years old or younger.
This was a great performance by them. Eels could have done with a win today. Their chances of reaching the top 8 look slim after this. Who knows though.

Thanks Barney.
I've been away again this weekend this time in the Midlands.
Actually I like capital letters, they're a very rugged option, though maybe it's just your lucky pin has got lodged in your Caps Lock button! Posted Image

You and UB have had a good weekend. Hold tight for a few minutes and I'll post the results.
I'll now screw my eyeballs back in their sockets after reading your post. Posted Image Posted Image

Our two top scorers this week with 4/5 were Barney and Usain Bolt. Our tie-breaker was needed and on this reckoning our Champion Tipster this week is Barney (+41) from UB (+48)
Congratulations to both, especially Barney
Points Total winner this week is Kiwityke in second place came G Las D (+16) while Bourbon Rat(+18) was again third.
Our Home win predictions award this week has a clear winner: Rugby Female who correctly predicted 2 home wins

Bourbon Rat, thirteenthman and G Las D jointly won the poll predicting two teams would end up with scores of 9 or less.
I'll create the awards shortly.
Our Round 18 tipping competition will be posted as soon as I can get it ready.

Congratulations to all our award winners and especially Barney who had a great week's tipping and to Usain Bolt who equal top scored.
Being a pre-Origin Round I believe anyone gaining three or more correct tips in R17 deserves a well earned pat on the back. The rest of us will just keep our heads down
Thanks for taking part everybody
