Team for Sunday

For ourself we actually have some selection problems especially in the backs. Gillam is probably our best winger but Robinson's form has been superb since his debut against Swinton and he surely can't be dropped. Brocky on the opposite hasn't been playing as well but he is our top try scorer. In the centres we have Fogarty, McCully and St Hilaire fit and even Brocky could play in the centres. The four props pick themselves at the minute and at hooker I would pick Martin Roden over Whitmore just because of his tackling ability which will be needed against Haven. The back row is another tough area especially with the two new boys from Leeds impressing last week.
My team would be
Heaton
Robinson
Fogarty
McCully
Gillam
Roden
Forber
Boults
M.Roden
Stenchion
Bravo
Noone
Casey
Clough
Sutton
Ellison
Wood/Isherwood/Bentley/Brocky.

Starting this thread early. Sunday's game is probably the most important game of our season. We may be only in seventh place but we are only six points off second place and we have a few home games left where are form has been pretty good aside from the defeat to Swinton. Whitehaven have done excellently this year and in my opinion are clearly in the best two teams in the league along with Swinton. They always have a strong pack and Palfray is a exciting half back for them whilst McAvoy, Calvert and Doran are going to be the danger men .

Hi Brooksy
I believe that this will be a game about size and power, mainly in the forwards/pack but also on the fringes. With that in mind I would make two changes to your team. Firstly, put Wood in the centres in place of Fogarty - just from the point of view of having size on both sides then with Wood and McCully. I would then, following the reports from the reserves, bring in Johnson on as the fourth sub the bench.

Hasn't he damaged his hand or something though?

Johnson's out for six weeks with some sort of thumb injury. He would definitely have been on my team otherwise.
Just read that Johnson is out for 6 weeks and Wood is doubtful so I would go with your original team and Isherwood would get the nod for me on the bench.

No Gillam in the first team or reserve squad due to work commitments so the backs should be the same as last week. The only position that looks to be under contention is the last spot on the bench with Wood, Isherwood and Bentley all available. I'd pick Wood personally.

Hi Brooksy
I'm with you on that with Wood just from the shear fact that he can cover in the threequarters.
