Well what an absolutely superb performance from everybody today, coaches were spot on going with the smaller quicker forwards in the heat today, I think the likes of coward might of struggled in it. Armistead, who must of played at least 65 minutes was superb, kaighan, carter and bamber were spot on in attack and the 2 full length tries were fantastic and great to watch. Stack, Mcgoff made great yards and were outstanding in defence. But the big difference between the 2 teams was jack pedley, controlled the game, scored 2 great tries and made good breaks from deep. Swinton are a top side, and are league leaders for a reason, but today town out fought, out enthused and simply outplayed them for the full 80 minutes. Excellent.
kris Coward wasnt playing today due to Injury, but agree with what you say the whole team were spot on, Armistead, Pedley, Kaighan, and Stack could have been M.O.M and the likes of Olstrum werent far behind putting in 80 minutes graft
Well done to all the players on that performance today

It was hard to pick out anyone as man of the match, for me Army just shaded it, but wouldn't argue with any choice.
Swinton came with an expensive all star team, who in my opinion were needlessly dirty. Whether it was deliberate tactics or not for today I don't know, but we took it all and made them pay in the right way.
Congrats to all the lads, now the hard bit is to back it up next week.
And what about the lady ref! Think it took her 20 mins to get around to blowing for a pen, but def not the worst we've had and def the best looking!

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

I thought that the female referee done very well but in all honesty Quasimodo could have took the whistle and been the best looking referee thats been at Derwent Park this seasons
Aye, refs not like they were a few seasons ago Pete, all top modeling stuff, anyhow, who was the guy in the thirty bob suit second half?

Dont know how we are expensive when you have the likes of Armi and Stack.
Only Smith,Morrison and Gallagher came from regular championship footy in the close season.

Dirty? Nah we were just the same as you. The penalties were mainly for offside. The best team won. Your two breakaway tries were brilliantly executed. The best team won without doubt.

I take it you didn't see Holt get hit late after he had put in a high kick, Mark? And there was a couple of sly digs put in on the popularside, the TJ actually ran on for one of them.
I think if Ian Watson had spent as much time and effort on what he is good at and not either laying on or bending the refs ear, then it may have been different.
Apparently, Leahy didn't come out for the second half because of a nose bleed but what a match (2nd against 1st) to have female referee as reserve ref but she did alright.

I just thought myself that it seemed a deliberate tactic to be treading the line between hard and fair and a bit over the line, the late hits especially. But like you say you do tend to be a bit one eyed to your own team, and yes Stacky could have got ten mins.
It was a very good game though, and both teams gave their all.
I may be wrong but I would think that with the Names in your squad that should be playing in the division above this one, means a bob or two has been spent to get you up there. Let's be honest apart from the 3 close season signings, at least another 5 of your squad should be playing in the champ. (jealous? - never!)
Hope you take a few points off all the teams around us on the run in.

Outstanding performance from every single one of them, I've thought all season that this was decent squad, they proved it today
Now let's go to Rochdale next week and repeat that performance. Pedley outstanding once again, just think how good it would be if we had him and Matty spelling each other off, or on the field at the same time !!
To be really picky I thought yesterdays team was just 2 short of a top squad but the covering tackling, bar one softish try, was excellent. I too would love to see both Pedley and Mattinson together but sadly doesn't sound if its going to happen. Pedley though is beginning to realise the potential he always had, so as far I'm concerned we still have the best hooker in the league! Armistead has been a great acquisition and takes some of the pressure off Stack as the go to man. Not sure where Millers going to fit in now as might be unfair on Dawes to put him back on the wing, maybe second row
Great day, great performance, great result and will be great if/when we back it up at Rochdale. No reason why we shouldn't - we're good enough.
