After getting a real tatering at Fev on Sunday Toulouse Olympique have decided they won't continue in the Championship next season.

They have realised they have zero chance of getting into Super League via that division since you need to get to the Grand Final or win the Northern Rail Cup, so they will re-join the French division and hope to get a franchise by the same route Catalan did.

So Leigh, Halifax and the rest who fancy their chances will have to be ready next time the franchises are due.

I have heard from a very reliable source that this is the case, you would have had the news in this Sunday's programme but it had to go to press a couple of weeks ago.

According to the League Express it is costing £400,000 to send English teams to France. The highest gate yesterday was at Fev 1,307. I doubt whether anyone will go up into SL.

But the RFL knew that when they gave them entry to the Championship - where was the business plan? Complete clowns - Red Hall, Red noses?

They could send team to Bramley for much less - but obviously the mucky mucks at RFL prefer the wine bars of southern france to a pint of Tetleys in the Barley Mow

Bramley are a joke. But I agree with the sentiment that it could pay for other clubs, in fact at £100k each it could bring in 4 new British semi-pro clubs and have 2 Championship divisions of 12.

Nice one yes! But that makes too much sense and they are not flush with that at Red Hall.
