this is the first year ive taken a real interest in SOO, even pulled a sicky today, now thats dedication!!!
anyway, quick question. this year the sequence for home games was qld-nsw-qld, does this alternate each year or is it always like that. bit of an advantage to qld, this year obviously.

State of Origin is the ultimate in competitive rugby league.
I reckon either team would beat most international teams.

Oh Yeh!! Why don't Oz play an Origin team as their National team then? They MIGHT beat the Kiwis then.
The foul play that for some reason is allowed to flourish in Origin is not allowed in Internationals (or NRL and SL for that matter). Why is that? It certainly downgrades the product for me.

Ouch - there's a comment born of pain and pleasure I think.
As for foul play, I'm against it whole heatedly. All the same SoO is compulsive viewing and maybe gates and viewing figures for the game in general would get even higher if this level of intensity could be replicated more.
The intensity, rivalry, and atmosphere generated by full houses show and massive and growing TV audiences around the world show that SoO has got more things right than many other sporting events.
OK nothing's perfect, but this event draws in the crowds and attracts attention more than most international RL games.

Normally it alternates every year - next year nsw-qld-nsw. But lately every third year they have one game in melbourne.
For the first few years - origin was only one game - always at Lang Park in Brisbane. Then it changed to a 3 game series, with two games always at Brisbane. Then a few years after that it alternated between Brisbane and Sydney having two games each.

With the new clubs joining the NRL, I think it would be a good idea to take one game per year (the first game of the series, perhaps) "on the road", to the home stadiums of each of the new teams.
It'd be a nice way of welcoming the newcomers and would help in building local interest in the new teams.
