Town 28-4 down at half time. Poor performance and it's going to be a very disappointing result. After last week we should of been picking up a bonus point at the very least, inconsistency could ruin our season.

Finished 45-20. And the worst of it, haven, keighley,Doncaster and obviously rochdale have picked up wins. So a bad day all round, a week off and then a must win home game vs skolars. I think were going to have to win our home games because I can't see us getting anything from our remaining away games

I was going to put that we were complete and utter rubbish in the first half but we weren't that good!!!!!!!

I'm sorry but I've banged on for several weeks that we need to strengthen or we will not get out of this league and today was proof if ever proof was needed. Some of our players are alright when we have the ball but they don't want or don't make the effort in defence. Our ball retention was atrocious and we played as if we were in slow motion. Rochdale were far faster with ball in hand and they definitely wanted it more than us which is the most disappointing thing about the game.

We have players getting their places week after week simply because we have nobody else to put in and that I'm afraid is not going to get us promoted. We have to take the bull by the horns NOW and get strengthening the squad.

I agree with keith, and I think it's time to give Matty an ultimatum, either make yourself available next game or get released. With the money saved on him we could bring 1 or 2 quality players in.

Thank you to all the Workington fans who made the long trip down, sorry we had to spoil your fun with our first half display of attacking rugby. But again thank you we could yet meet for a forth time in the play offs.
Success does not consists in never making blunders, but in never making the same one the second time.

Got to agree. I'm afraid that what Holt gives us in attack we lose in defence. He just didn't want to know and its continuously up to covering players to make the tackle. He's had a few hits lately and its understandable he doesn't quite have the appetite for it anymore. I'd stick with Bainbridge now; he's a good kicker, can take players on and though not the biggest will at least make an effort at the tackle. Take Miller - played superbly all game, great score with two to beat, covered a lot kicks through with ease and fully committed in the tackle. On one occasion he hit their winger I think it was and dislodged the ball just on the halfway line. McDonald happened to be the nearest player and what does he do, rather than fall on it and get possession in a good position he hoofs it directly into touch; result their possession in a good position. That moment summed up the game for me. Its only marginal but the younger players really want it.

After 10 minutes Rochdale suddenly blew us off the park with some lovely fast attacking plays, one after the other, and we just couldn't live with it. I just didn't expect them to be that much better. Second half we competed but too late by then. There is still a core of good players but a performance like this shows you can't afford to carry anyone. Make no mistake the Skolars will be no pushover.

The bottom line is we are just not good enough! We have players that are just not fast enough, no good or just don't want to put the effort in (this fustrates me the most) and unfortunately for the very few players that put their heart and sole into it and losing a fighting battle as everyones pulling in different directions! Someone needs to give them an ultimatium and tell them that its a game of two halfs not one! Fustrated doesn't even cut it at the moment.

I think one thing that yesterday exposed is our lack of pace and mobility when certain players are on the pitch. At DP we have one of the narrowest, if not the narrowest, pitch in the league where we can keep it fairly tight and force teams down the middle but on a big wide pitch like Spotland we are beaten for speed time and again.

When you have Holt, Whitehead and McDonald on the field at the same time it leaves big gaps as all three are painfully slow. It makes matters even worse when Holt and Whitehead defend next to each other on the left side and the amount of times we're busted down their side is ridiculous. It's a good job Elliot Miller was playing yesterday to get back and cover as without him we'd have conceded another 3 or 4 tries down that flank. Holt's defence is really poor now and several times yesterday he simply stuck an arm out at the man running at him. People argue that his kicking game makes him worth picking but even that was poor yesterday. Whitehead and McDonald are just big lumbering liabilities and I really can't see what either of them offer the team as to me we are significantly worse when they are on.

Another thing yesterday was our shocking handling. I'd be surprised if our completion rate was more than 50% in the first half due to our own often unforced handling errors. The amount of times we dropped the ball on 2nd or 3rd tackle was shocking, trying to force silly passes instead of being patient. You simply can't afford to give other teams the amount of possession that we allowed Rochdale to have and expect to compete.

All in all it was a terrible performance and one which the players need to take a good hard look at. Some of the tries conceded were not through any brilliant play by Rochdale but simply due to our woeful defence and errors - the try scored off the base of the scrum in front of our posts being a classic example, as was the one where Gus thought the high kick was going out and left it for the Rochdale winger behind him to simply catch it and fall over the line.

Matty has already told both the board and the coaches that he has lost his appetite and enthusiasm towards the game and no longer wishes to play, why can’t the club just come out and tell the supporters this. ,

My guess is they are trying to persuade him to change his mind. Very sad to see him not playing or enjoying his rugby any more. Maybe a season back at the brow will get his appetite back. Whatever happens he had a good few seasons for Haven good luck matty.

He should just come out and say that under no circumstance is he playing for town again. Then there is no ifs and buts, and the club can move forward.

Can I just echo Boro Hornet's message of thsnks for coming and making the gate 1,000+.

It's also meritous that you haven't just defaulted into blaming the referee and his T.J.s as most fans do.

All the best for the rest of the season.
