News Corp is looking increasingly like it is gonna get it big time from all angles. The BSkyB bid is likely to be vetoed and investigations into the businesses practices and financial behaviours have now began in Australia and (worryingly considering their love of litigation) the USA.

With the plummeting share price so far wiping £5 billion pounds from the companies value to date, the question starts to arise as to what impact it could have on the major sports competitions it sponsors either directly or through TV rights. From a British perspective Super League Europe and the Premier League being the major beneficiaries.

With Super League totally dependent and the Championship clubs heavily reliant on Sky funding, the question arises, what is the possible impact and who would survive or even prosper if the News Corp empire were to fall or be forcably dismantled?

The question is why have the RFL allowed Rugby League to be in this position?
