for me - sl is the worst its been since its conception - the playing standard seems dire, knock on-penalty- mistake-knock on -penalty-mistake-
there are no sculthorpes, iros, joynts, vainakolos -only ageing gb players, 4th rate imports and very ordinary kids, i know we always get accused of knocking our own sport but i think its time to be honest-sl is not moving forward like ru has done, looking at previous sl teams of recent years-they would have walked in to the grand final and won it easily, E.G.look at hudds sl contenders, who cant put a play together without an ageing journeyman halfback who couldnt have got a look in on the international scene 10 years ago

The best games have been better, quicker, more skillful. The poor games have been awful, much worse. Dont know why though.

No change on the international scene for years, don't blame SL...... GB/ ENG / Wales teams have always HAD a few players!!!!
We've had Edwards / Hanley / Platt / Ward / Davies / Offiah Gregory M & A
Had Scully Farrell Radlinski Joynt Long
Just not enough
for what ever reason we've just not enough good players in KEY positions FACT results prove it and now we're behind the Kiwi's

Thats a tad unfair on the Huddersfield players
But in general i agree with your point, i for one think the number of interchanges is stiffling the more skillful players in the reams, i would also do away with the federation/quota and say 3 non uk players thats it, i would possibly allow french players to play quota free until toulouse get themselves sorted
The standaerd in the early 2000's had dropped and is becoming less and less skillful and based on percentage rugby

I dont bother watching SL anymore. The standards are worse than 5 years ago and its just not entertaining. Around 5 years ago we had players, people in the street had heard of like Andy Farrell, Keiron Cunningham and Paul Sculthorpe. We had great games like St.Helens v Leeds and Bradford where it was hard, physical and entertaining. The games now are just bland played by average players and no names. Graham is off to the NRL-one of the few quality players in the comp. If you want entertainment watch the Championship. If you want better stand of Rugby watch the NRL in most cases. We have teams that are a joke in the comp-Quins, Salford and Crusaders are lucky to get 3500 to games so no atmosphere and often they are cannon fodder to the top teams. These clubs hardly add any quality to the SL.Sorry but I dont see anything Super about SL and dont think things will change despite Stevo and Eddie wetting themselves because teams are so poor they make the opposition look good!

It's been a very poor year throughout the entire leagues not just Super League. The Championship games are usually superb entertainment but I can't think of one decent game this year and Championship One has been even worse, if you were to put say Featherstone's team from 2007 or Donny or Oldham's team from 08 into this years league they would have won at a canter.

Overall we do have a problem imo and i think in the end it comes down to too many teams in the top tier and not a big enough grass roots scene to support it. Even as a crusaders fan i think we should have a 10-10 split with the championship and a superleague version of the nrc to create enough games to support it, and the re-introduction of p and r.

Predictions for the future -
Crusaders RL to get a franchise for 2012 onwards -WRONG
Widnes Vikings also to get a franchise - RIGHT
Crusaders RL to do the double over Widnes and finish five places ahead of them -WRONG
Widnes Vikings NOT to dominate rugby league in years to come! STILL TO COME

They are the type of players which are going to go to the team which gets promoted.
Firstly there is nothing to play for, for the bottom 8 clubs. There is the chance they will get into the play offs but get knocked out by Wire or Wigan ect but thats about it. There isn't any role model players out there which people from other sports look at. There used to be the Farrels and Sculthorpes at the start of the 21st century but these are long gone.

Your right, it makes no sense for a newly promoted team to sign a very experienced full back.typical E.G. briscoe signs a sl deal with widnes! thats what there is to look forward to next season, im not knockin briscoe in his prime 7 years ago but this is not the future! remember alan tait in his prime and that was before sl!

What value is it going to add to SL, he's not going ot make an impact at international level. Widnes fans have been raving on how Danny Craven is going to be the next big thing. They also have that 17 year old full back who ive forgot the name of. One of these two careers will not take off because of the signing of Briscoe.

If Shaun Briscoe prevents you from getting a game then I'd doubt you have the talent to make an impact at International level.
Widnes know they are going to struggle especially in the first year, having a tough , experienced player like Briscoe will help them remain competitive .

I keep trying to watch SL whenever it's on Sky, but I usually fall asleep, it's just so dull. All that seems to happen is the ball get stuffed up jumpers for 5 tackles and on the sixth, there's a bit of kick and hope, with the occasional jammy try as a result. There's practically no ball handling skill on display.
Thursday night however is a very different matter, the championship game is always fast, entertaining, skillful and fun.
I know my club have designs on getting into SL in 2015, but I hope they don't bother, I like what I see now and don't think I'd be willing to pay for the kind of boredom SL provides.

there have been some fine games this year
perhaps this is what makes the odd poor game look worse than it is. last night was an example.
We look at the handling errors-by no means all excused/explained by the lousy weather, and tend to forget the massive defensive display by Leeds.

I see what you did there.
11 days to SL decision day and you put the knife in the expansion teams, and Salfords crowds
Careful for what you wish for you may get it and it's apparently boring.

SL does have some issues. Unfortunately I think Franchising and the top 8 playoffs have allowed some sides to coast through parts of the season and target certain games. The vast majority of the regular season lacks intensity principally due to the lack of relegation and the ability to make the playoffs with an ordinary record, with the have nots having little to play for after May. Clearly the main benefit of Franchising of stability in the top flight has not helped the likes of Wakefield, Harlequins or Crusaders to establish themselves with the top sides as they are arguably (particularly in the case of the former two) in a worse position than three years ago.
It was an experiment that is failing and if nothing has changed in three years time, it will surely be the death knell for Franchising.

Watching 80 minutes of boring rugby listening to Stevo + Eddie trying to make the game sound like a classic ? No chance especially when you can watch the highlights online. Honestly the highlights are not good but better than wasting 80 minutes watching and listening to ######!
