Sorry to sound like a party-pooper, anok4u, but surely we should have been treating every game this season as cup finals if we were wanting out of this league. The only team that we have beaten that is higher than us in the league is Swinton and after watching us play against Haven and Rochdale, 2 games against winnable opposition, then I cannot see this squad finishing higher than 5th or 6th and giving us very little hope of getting to a Grand Final.

Believe me, I would love to be proved wrong but sadly I just can't see it any other way. We should have strengthened the squad weeks ago like many of our opponents have been doing, as the old saying goes "you have to speculate to accumulate"!!! I think we have to win 4 of our last 5 games to be in with a chance of 2nd or 3rd place and as they are all very hard games I think we will come up short once again.
I remember when .............................

"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

You could be right Keith and let's be honest every other year as proved to be an anti climax but I'm trying to be optimistic here and thinking we can do it,a final with haven would do with us winning by 20...

I've just been going through the remaining fixtures of the top 7 clubs and I see it finishing thus:

1. Swinton - 54 points and automatically promoted
2. Keighley - 45 points
3. Doncaster - 45 points
4. Rochdale - 41 points
5. Town - 39 points
6. Haven - 35 points
7. Oldham - 31 points

That would mean Keighley playing Donny with the winners going straight to the GF.

Rochdale would play Oldham and Town would play Haven with the winners meeting to decide who plays the losers of Keighley and Donny. If we win all our 5 remaining games to give us 43 points I still think we would finish outside the 2nd and 3rd positions.

I think the season has been spoilt long before now, we lost 5 points with the last play, haven, donny and rochdale. Them 5 points would of been the difference between 2nd and 5th. I still believe we have the side to beat anyone in the playoff game, but we need to avoid injuries, and if we can get shacks, tutty and Matty back on the field then our 17 is a very good side.

Heard from a good source that Matty could be back for the skolars game ....Here's hoping

Im not so sure about that. If he comes back then I hope he has his head sorted as I would rather not play someone not 100% sure he wants to be here. If he replaces Pedley as 1st choice then it is plainly wrong as Pedley has been outstanding since Mattinson left.

I for one would gladly welcome him back, everyone goes through difficult patches. It would be a real boost for the sides hopes as we move nearer the play-offs. Of course there is no way he would 'replace' Pedley but its quite a lip smacking prospect having both playing, Pedley has certainly got the skills and pace to move between Hooker and Stand-off imo.

Of course if he is in the right frame off mind we would be mad not to allow him to return, my worry is he has his hunger back and wants to play. If not then just playing him for playings sake is a massive risk.
