Didn't even try to get tickets. To be honest , the spectators will need medals for the sheer effort and determination needed to travel to Stratford and get into the stadium. The authorities are advising there will be an average 20 min wait at the turnstiles to get through security.

I shall be watching on TV, but avoiding anything commentated on by Brendan Foster, Steve Cram, John Inverdale and Chris Hollins.

I've just rejected some work scheduled for next year as the go-live date was planned for right in the middle of the Olympics.

I am thoroughly looking forward to the Olympics but I won't be going anywhere near London while it's on. The security and policing during the event will make the Chinese security seem relaxed and friendly. The Soviet style VIP lanes will make transport in London unbearable. The tubes and trains are already beyond capacity at peak times and I can guarantee huge delays because of the dilapidated state of the rail infrastructure in the east London/Essex area.

I'm planning to take that entire time off and hopefully relax at home watching it all on telly.

Money can't buy happiness... but it can buy bacon which is close enough.

The key techie on the project broke his leg in the run-up to the go-live and no-one else had his knowledge. Selfish sod, breaking his leg to avoid work ;) Lesson learned that key people must be forced to share their knowledge whether they want to or not.

That's what's so laughable about The Apprentice. They all want to be Project Managers but seem to have no idea what one does or how one does it. ( Helen apart... )

Indeed. The camera crew always have the best seats. Better than being there for the 100m final and just seeing eight tiny figures zooming along, from the far side of the stadium.

Rather nice bit of free, non-ticketed, cycling through Richmond Park and Kingston town centre today. OK, so tickets were needed for the Mall and Box Hill, but the rest is available to all and it was excellent.
Loved it.
