With clubs circumventing quota rules by signing Kolpak and young players (classed then as home trained), why doesn't the RFL take advantage of this and select these players for England? If they turn out to be good, England should claim them.
They have created their careers in the UK, so England should be entitled to choose them for test matches. They do it in Union, Cricket etc, so why not RL?
Some examples of players England could chose if they did this would be Hansen, Lovegrove, Dobson, Green, Chase etc. Some of these would add plenty to the England team.

Someone pull me up if I'm wrong here, but do the eligibility rules not include a residential rule, where 3 years residence (citizenship??) in a country qualifies the player for that country? Under these rules, perhaps not Chase (has been picked for training squads + NZ Maori before) but plenty of others could be eligible for England. I may be wrong, but it's these rules that allow Fein to play for NZ, and Greenshields to play for France.
Though I don't think any of the players you've named, with the exception of Chase, would improve the English team, it's definitely something that should be looked into in the long run, provided the players are accepting of course.

He was born in Auckland.
Yep double checked but all his education has been in England. The opposite of Ian Henderson who is classed as an Aussie despite being born in England

I don't see any less pride in the Cricket and Union teams. And they actually win stuff.

Totally wrong...any players who play for England should be proud English players who have strived since their school days to represent their country in other words the peak of their ambitions and career.I don't see any less pride in the Cricket and Union teams. And they actually win stuff.
Not players after a quick glory "fix" and easy pay day.
Where otherwise is the incentive for kids today to achieve something special and to make all their families proud of them ?

I disagree with the idea in it's entirity. We are England - we win as England, we lose as England - simple as that really!

I don't think any Australian gets to pontificate to us on this issue. I mean, the kangaroos do not need to do this, but they do and they use the origin match as a carrot to ensure they get what they want. make yourself available for the kangaroos or you can't play in the top RL game in the world.
For me, that's against the spirit of the rules. England have done it in the past, but the opportunity rarely presents itself to bring in someone unmissable that we couldn't replace with a similar Englishman. Guys like Hansen could have played for us in the spirit of the rules I suppose, I don't think Fa'asavalu was though. Both England and Australia (in particular) should resist stealing such players from the likes of Samoa just to compete.

Please excuse the edit.
PS: I absolutely agree with what you say, this entire load of three or whatever years of residency and the like is total and utter bull**** and makes a complete mockery of international competition (at any sport) not to mention dishonest too.

This coming from a Hull KR fan. Your club does nothing to promote English players.
The RFL has to bring in rules to pick England qualified foreigners into the national team because clubs like yours do everything they can to breach quota rules and ensure the existing pool of English players isn't good enough in the first place.

I don't think a Hull KR fan has any responsibility for his or her clubs decisions and priorities in building a competitive team, nor does it make their opinion less valid on England matters. This coming from a Hull KR fan. Your club does nothing to promote English players.
It was more likely Colin Love and the ARL / NRL Mafiosi so that the Aussies and NZ could 'naturalise' South Sea Island born players. Glass houses eh? The only England decision that was shameful was the Faasavalu debacle and he was barely good enough to warrant such treatment anyway. The RFL has to bring in rules to pick England qualified foreigners into the national team because clubs like yours

Spot on, have pride for YOUR country.
I'm not a Clarke lover, but watching him last night, that lad has given everything possible to our club.
He has seen it all, played with some great players, had numerous different coaches, various disturbing incidents around the club and still got on with his game and GOT full international honours for the country he was BORN in..... Pride and passion, thats all you can ask for.
