Very very sad news about Rochdale Hornets stalwart Mr Bob Hollis passing away on Saturday morning.
Along with Ray Myers he must have been in the top few Hornets door step lottery collectors of all time, having collected for many years in the 60’s 70’s and 80’s.
He was an ever present on the Hornets Wembley trips for years with Alice and was always great company telling tales about his time playing for Hornets “A” team and his years driving for Ellen Smith’s and Yelloway. Indeed he was fantastic character.
God Bless Bob,
Mark Reynolds

I echo those sentiments Mark, Bob was indeed a Hornets man through and through. His enthusiasm for the club and the game in general was very infectious. I can never recall him without a smile on his face and always had a word or two to say.
God Bless Bob, you will be sadly missed by all who knew you.

A lovely and generous man, R.I.P. Bob
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward Ive climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of......

What a wonderful and very fitting tribute to the great man, Bob Hollis, on the Hornets website. It really is a marvellous article and totally deserved of him. Thanks for the happy memories Bob.

I have put an obituary which will appear in the Oldham programme. If anyone would like to get a copy for his family I'm sure the club wouldn't charge for that one.

A great attendance today for Bob's funeral with too many to get into the crematorium who listened to the service outside through the loudspeakers. RIP Bob.
