Haven's loss, but I believe with bonus point means Oldham will be our visitors in play offs, despite their excellent win at Town.
Can we reverse the poor performances of this season? Certainly, we shall have to be at our best.
Surely a bumper crowd? Perhaps some extra incentive to attend - say, a slightly reduced entry ticket or family ticket?

I believe it's the RFL that control ticket prices in the playoffs. I've asked about this scheme in years gone by, and thats teh answer i got. Great idea to put a reduced addmision price offer on. get the crowds in!!!

I don't see anything wrong with his post, what are you getting at?

Oh and by the way, I do not ban people from this message board, if that decision is taken it is taken by the administrator, OK!

Yes indeed, I will see you in the bar after the game. I'm co-ordinating the Programme and Golden Gambles before the match. Do I take it correctly that you know who I am?

Gutted i can't be there. As an exile, i've missed all the games this year and it's painful.....but a play off game against the owd enemy is gut wrenching. The form Oldham take into the game and the confidence Hornets should take into the game as a consequence of the win over Swinton ought to make it a cracker! Been thinking about a reason to come home, but the wife's already sussed me out

Ah well.....may the best team win.....and may the best team be Oldham

This should be a cracking game and but for being away I would have come over and watched it.

Rochdale certainly raised their game aginst our boys,Swinton Lions, on friday and were well worthy of their win, especially after comming from behind. I'm not sure they can raise their game to that level two weeks on the run but i sincerely hope so due to the very strong connection between the Rochdale and swinton players.

Oldham certainly must have played well up at Workington and do seem to have a hold on Rochdale in terms of games played, but I have a problem with them winning and possibly then going on to get promoted and it isn't having a go at Oldham but i think it's wrong that a team who has spent the whole of the season in the bottom half of the table can then go on and be rewarded on the back of knockout rugby.

Yes i know that's the rules set out bu the RFL but it makes a mockery of the whole season and i also know i stand to be accused of hypocrasy as of course untill this season the play offs have been Swinton's only route of escape.

I genuinley believe Rochdale are the better side and wish them all the very best of luck.

Don't forget we, oldham, have been victims of this system in the past! One time finishing second,4 times consecutive finalists. So i think we do deserve promotion if we win it this time. As for the ground, that is separate issue that will be addressed. Just as swinton's is being addressed.

I never mentioned the ground issue.

I was merely pointing out that the play off system is flawed. In all fairness what you have done in the past is irrelevant, you had your chances and simply didn't take them. As for the season you finished second well in my opinion you should have automaticaly been promoted as that year your overall play and consistancy meant you deserved it.

i am not slagging Oldham off here merely saying that the system is wrong and I am sure deep down and based on the season you have had this year you have to agree Oldham don't really deserve promotion.

Just thought I'd mention the ground first to pre empt the usual gripe when oldham and promotion are mentioned in the same breath. But you are completely correct in what you Say. The whole system is totally inept and wrong.

The ground issues at Oldham can only be addressed by a fleet of JCB's.

Isn't there any democracy in the RFL? Somewhere along the line the owners must have approved the system of promotion/play offs mustn't they? Is it just greed on their part in the sense that even teams that have had god awful seasons can still make play-offs and get promotion (not having a go at Oldham, same would apply to any team in their position). Shouldnt the fans be lobbying the owners to vote against these mickey mouse approaches to promotion and relegation and base it on performance over the entire regular season (then again performance over regular season cannot be based on the bonus points for scoring with your eyes closed type of system).

Seems to me its stopped being a sport and turned into a lottery - eveyone but those teams from the timbucktu of rugby league qualify for a chance to be promoted.

The reason we finished 7th is due to the fact we have had to many long term injuries from early season to key players, Onyango Gillam, Clarke,Ellison etc, and it's affected mainly our away form. We have lost to many games this season, where we have only picked up 3 bonus pts. We lost by 2 pts to London and Swinton away. The other bonus pt was to Worky at home. we have only finished 4pts below you, and if you look at the play off section of the final positions, there is hardly anything in it. We come into the play offs in fantastic form , losing 2 out of 9,and in which Benson now has a headache selection problem in who to pick. We went to Worky without Ben Heaton, McCully and Forber.
I'm confident we we'll win sunday, but I do think it will be tight.

Thats a pretty bad excuse really when you consider that just about every team throughout the rugby league have had lots of long term injuries
RUGBY LEAGUE WITHOUT ROCHDALE HORNETS IS LIKE AN UNSHARPENED PENCIL, THERES NO POINT?

Not an excuse, and I'm not aware that other teams have had Injuries as long as ours. You were at full strength when we beat you last time, we weren't. And Workington were at full strength last Sunday, we were even more weakened up there.
