Please discuss
Tonight he was awful. It should have been a celebration of rugby, a game between the two best clubs in the championship, but instead we got a game ruined by a myopic attention seeker, who must have been applying the rules of a completely different sport.
I beg the RFL to employ someone who actually knows the rules of the game for the grand final.
While I'm having a whinge, could the touch judges kindly come on here and explain what they did for an hour and half tonight.
Rant over, please share your experiences of Mr Roby

Watching as a neutral who has refereed both RL and soccer he looks a really good ref and I'm impressed by his calmness when handling the players.
His mistake level was low, one howler was on his blind side, but the game flowed well and the best team won.
Do you referee at all??

likewise
Now then, it's a race between Sandie....and Fairburn....and the little man is in........yeees he's in.
I, just like those Castleford supporters felt that the ball should have gone to David Plange but he put the bit betwen his teeth...and it was a try
Kevin Ward - best player I have ever seen

The real Mick Gledhill is what you see on here, a Bradford fan ........, but deep down knows that Bradford are just not good enough to challenge the likes of Leeds & St Helens.

To publicly answer the messages received, we've never censored criticism of referees' performances, except where it's seriously out of order. Where we do intervene is where there are allegations of dishonesty or similar.

I, too, thought he had a decent game. He missed a couple things and a couple of the high shots he gave were a bit harsh, but he controlled the game well and let it flow. He's only a young bloke so he's got plenty of time to improve further an I don't think it'll be too long before we see him in SL.
To the OP; the game is crying out for referees so why not give it a go.

I thought he had a good game, all refs miss things but as with the majority of posters on here I thought he controlled the game well and let it flow.
Again if you think you can do a better job give it a go.

Leeds Rhinos,STILL the only Grand Final winning club NOT to have cheated the salary cap.WCC Champions 2012.

I didn't even notice the ref, which is the way it's supposed to be. pens 9 apiece.
there was too much great rugby to enjoy, and Roby seemed happy to let people get on with enjoying it IMHO

. . . . . and Fev won too! Imagine how poor a game Roby would have had if they had lost!!
I thought he went well, and did ok. Never going to be perfect.

I've seen this guy referee a few times and he only had one bad game to my mind although I didn't see the game last night.
The thing is, in e overwhelming majority of games whether the referee is lenient on one side or the other the two teams are the ones who decide the game and blaming the referee is a smokescreen to hide the weakness of the performance. I've walked away feeling cheated before, we all have, but even in most of those cases our teams simple were not good enough even if things had gone our way.
It's a difficult job and scrutinising the like this is often unfair. Not always, but often.

Ill have to watch it on sky again, its what he misses thats his downfall.
hes not been forgiven for the Rovers v Leigh match earlier in the season where he was god-awful.

Had a decent enough game from where I was stood.
Even when winning, some fans just like to moan about refs. Go to games as a neutral, and most of them suddenly do a decent job most of the time...

May have had a couple of pints more than is usually polite when I posted that last night, he did really spoil the game for me though and the TJs may as well have not bothered turning up.
Roby was awful for both sides and going to the third umpire for a knock on decision in the middle of the park is symptomatic of his lack of skill, in my opinion.
As for me trying reffing, not sure the beer belly and dodgy knee would stand it and the taunting I'd get for eating all the pies would be quite intolerable

thought Mr Roby had a decent game as usual
every Toulouse game i've watched him ref has been great - certainly not the worst in the league,in fact probably vying for first place alongside Matt Thomason IMO
