This means that we include the final contributions from Ian Millward and Robbie Hunter-Paul. We, at ‘The Centurion’, will miss them both. Dave Parkinson tells us how approachable Ian has always been, and I have found Robbie a delight to work with, since the day I ‘recruited’ him for the magazine. When he asked me what he should write about, and I said he had free rein, he replied, “Good, I’ll write about my favourite topic.” “What’s that?” I queried. “Me!” was his response! Both have been magnificent ambassadors for our club, and will be hard acts to follow. But, follow them we will.
This week, ROBBIE reveals what he thinks of the Leigh club and its fans, (and boy, does he say some nice things!) looks back on his favourite moments, and looks forward to a Grand Final swansong – Sheffield permitting!
IAN MILLWARD also looks back on his highlights, and explains what went wrong at Featherstone and how he hopes to put it right.
CEO TREVOR BARTON has obviously been affected by the pressure of the job, and has burst into verse! He offers us the ‘Don’t Quit’ poem, which is highly appropriate, in our current trying circumstances.
In a desperate bid to match our CEO’s literary talents, ALAN EDGE quotes Sally L. Senior, (who?) Barry Schwartz, (who?) and even a Nike advert, in an attempt to explain uncertainty, why more is less, and good is in fact bad! Perhaps the pressure is getting to him too?!
DAVE PARKINSON reports on just about everything under the sun – well, three first team games, an extended scholarship fixture, and the Under 23’s’ exciting play-off series. He also updates his fascinating stats. feature.
GARETH WALKER previews this week’s final play-off games in the Championship and Championship One.
MAURICE JONES and WAYNE KEEGAN have produced yet another series of superb action photos from the Toulouse game. As always, it is they who bring the pages of ‘The Centurion’ to life.
All this, plus the usual squad information, and regular features from the Club’s Lottery, Commercial, and Community departments, for just £2.50.
Here’s looking forward to seeing you all at the next Fans’ Forum, scheduled for early October, when I will be revealing our plans for the programme, and communications front for next season. I believe we have some highly innovative projects to introduce, in 2012.
