I think it would be a good idea for the Minor Premiers to play each other in the WCC rather than the winners of the respective Grand Finals. I think this would be a good way to reward the winners of the league leaders shield. The team that won the play offs would still be classed as champions however.

The league leaders get their reward through double jeopardy and home advantage.
If they can't win from there they ain't champions.
If they can't win from there they ain't champions.
Cheer up, RL is actually rather good

It's equally valid to say that if a team can't top the table they don't deserve to be called champions. The league leaders get their reward through double jeopardy and home advantage.

It's all fair enough; we know the rules and Leeds, as winners of the play-offs, are regarded as champs, but Wire showed themselves to be the best team in the competition over a full season, not just six games at the end. I don't have any doubt they'd be the best team to represent SL in the WCC, but the rules say it's the Rhinos so that is what it will be.

Not in a league where the champion is decided by a play-off system and final.

No Leeds are Champions.

In letting the league leaders contest the WCC the RFL would massively undermine the whole Play-Off concept. It would be like admitting that the league leaders are the real Champions.

SL is a thirty-one round competition, it doesn't end after 27.

Why don't the League Leaders gain automatic entry into the Grand Final?
