we really need to step our game up in the recruiting department, and very quickly. we have a hand full of lads signed on with 1 new face amongst them. last season i would of said armi, holt, stack and pedley were head shoulders above the rest of the team in terms of match winning performances. we already know armi is going home, holt is coach of barrow and theres a chance pedley is off to oz. so why havent we pulled out all the stops and got stack signed up and start to mould a team around him. we are desperate for match winners,as a team of solid performers just isnt going to work in a league that we HAVE to get promotion out of this year. we have no hooker signed on and only one half back, so these positions need to be addressed urgently. in todays paper it again outlines peter luptons desire to play for one of the cumbrian teams, i cant see how barrow could possibly afford him and if haven are planning on getting purdham i cant see them wanting another big earner on there books, so surely that leaves us with the best opportunity for him, and one if we can pull off will attract better players and show us the intent of the board in getting promotion this year. i know its early days and we shouldnt panic too much, but by this time last year we had recruited matty and jacko which just gave us fans a bit of belief, i dont think we have had that signing yet, but the anouncement of stack or lupton, or idealy both would set us off on the right track.

Elliott Miller's name needs adding to the list in the first post.
One name we won't be adding is Chris Clough - he's signed again for Keighley Cougars.

I remember when .............................
"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

I don't think clough will be a miss, gave away far too many penalties and wasnt a line breaker. I think to be pushing for honours we would gave to be looking out for better players.Elliott Miller's name needs adding to the list in the first post.

Heard from a reliable source that Jason Mossop signed a two year deal last year therfore meaning he is still signed on for this upcoming season.

Your sources are wrong because he signed a new contract at the same time as coward shackley and bamber straight from the horses mouth

How do you come to that conclusion? Pedley is on his hols and mcgoff is in Canada playing for the national team, so I'm pretty sure neither will have sorted there futures out yet.Kaighan, Pedley McGoff & Low back to Barrow

Good luck to ruari, a player who dosent really stand out in a game, but you notice when he isn't on the pitch with his solid work rate and really good defence.McGoff confirmed as a Barrow player today along with Liam Harrison and James Finch ... http://www.barrowrlf...asp?newsID=1038
