We now have quite a few holes to fill in our squad, and our coaches and bod have a busy time ahead finding replacements of at least the same quality. Hopefully there are the players available out there at a price we can afford.

Well Holty has well and truly lived up to the raiders name and took them all. He is heading for a boo!
As much as I realise the pull of home I thought we may have got a season of loyalty for the club that has developed them when their hometown club didn't give them the break.

I think the best way to look at it from a towns fans perspective is that we still did not get promotion last year(although we got really close), so the lads who we have lost would certainly not have guaranteed us promotion this year. If we can replace pedley and Kaighan then I dont think we will have any problems. Normally I would agree about club loyalty, but when you have been to work all day the last thing you would want to do is travel to barrow to train for an hour or 2. So I can fully understand why these lads have decided to play for the raiders. We have lost very good players in the past and bounced back and I fully expect us to do it this year as well. The club is bigger than a few players and we will survive.

I`m still wondering where those Tongans are, surely they should have canoe`d their way here by now.Theres been the same rumours for the past 2-3 years and nothing comes of it. I wonder what Chris young is up to? I think were deperate for a real creative player, someone who can change a game in an instant.

I think we're going to need a bit more than that; I don't think we look league beaters in our forward line just yet, but there a couple of months yet to get sorted.

Sorry I meant with replacing the barrow lads,I think its just our props we look weak in, with no real line breaker in them, and has farrer definately signed as I've read nothing confirming. I don't think you will find many better 2nd rows with a partnership from stack, shacks and Phillips and then olstrum at loose.I think we're going to need a bit more than that; I don't think we look league beaters in our forward line just yet, but there a couple of months yet to get sorted.

I remember when .............................
"It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimesion, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave hadfield - Independent 25th Augsut 1996.

By my reckoning we have lost 12 players from last years squad and we have signed 2 new faces(Brett Phillips and Peter Lupton) so I think it's fair to say that we do need a bit more, in fact quite a bit more. As you say Oneday there is still a couple of months or so until the next season so we will have to get the prayer mats out!!!!

DB has stated that we are gonna be basically a Cumbrian squad, but I think unless there are a few top notch cumbrian players I don't know about out there he may need a re-think if we still need 10 players.
The only problem with going for a Tongan / Aussie is that they are a bit of an unknown quality, and for every Pickering, Limmer or Stack you may end up with a Kmet, Poisel or a mafi who don't quite live up to the hype. Can we afford the dual reg route?
I'm sure the board and coaches will come good and we just have to keep the faith....... It's hard when your losing players faster than your signing them tho!

There were rumours that they were coming last year. Calvert is a very good finisher, but not too sure on eilbeck. Would be a good squad player but I would start mossop and jp over him every week. I see patrick being a huge player for us this year.Heard a few rumours today..........apparentley Calvert and Eilbeck were at Town for talks today

There has been rumours for longer than just last year it seems to be an annual ploy to get a bit more brass out of Haven!!! Sadly, they play one club against the other to see who will go highest.

Im afraid its the name of the game Keith sad tho it is
I am a little bit embarressed that we have plundered your squad as well mate as you looked after those Barrow based players and had a great season last year. I really hope you can sign a few more decent players to replace them and be up there at the top of the C1 pile (thats if we are as well

Yeah he's obviously staying at haven for the glamourous surroundings and 1st class facilities. I would have miller over him anyday of the week and I think dawesy will be in for a good year. The last thing we wanted was to be throwing a lot of money at a winger when we have 2 very good 1s ourselves. After turning down more money at Town, apparently!!!!!!!!

What happened to young Hewitt who was signed on season before last, looked a real good hooker and could surely do a job for us, we need an interchange for matty and can't be solely reliant on him.
