The weekend had become an expensive luxury, but now its been revised I'm far more likely to attend and persuade others to do so too.

They should the use the Magic Weekend as a hertiage round as well, with all clubs using retro jerseys
Now that sounds like a tremendous idea! Id love to learn more about the history of British clubs, it'd be intriging and eye catching. Why not add a very special layer to this event. The Rivalry and Heritage Rounds in Australia have been fantastic. Games at SCG have been fantastic as well.
I also worry that there are too many big events for RL fans in Britain to attend, so a game a bit closer to home is fair.

I count 3 excluding internationals, which may or may not be in this hemisphere next year. Doesn't seem like that many to meI also worry that there are too many big events for RL fans in Britain to attend, so a game a bit closer to home is fair.

So, it's moved again. For me, this is a good idea. There is more opportunity for people to go to games without having to fork out extra cash for a hotel. Hopefully, this will see some decent crowds, and in a slightly smaller stadium, they should be lost either.

One aspect of the Magic weekend that people point to as a measure of success is the attendance. I don't necessarily think it is the most important aspect but for argument's sake, let us compare.
2007 - 58,831
2008 - 63,000 (est)
2009 - 59,749
2010 - 52,043
2011 - 60,214
In 2012 I expect to see the overall attendance rise to somewhere between 65 and 70 thousand. I think the location means the majority of fans, particularly those in Lancashire, Cumbria and west Yorkshire, can go for the day and get home at a reasonable hour.
This could mean that people will go to their own game and possibly stay for the others on the same day and then return home afterwards. Then on the next day, the remaining team's fans do the same. Supporters of Wigan, St Helens, Warrington and Leeds really have a great opportunity to travel in really large numbers. Both teams from Hull always travel well and I hope that a few will come from Wrexham and Cumbria too.
2012 - 70,000?
Mancunian Magic gives us all a great chance to showcase our 'on the road' event in a fantastic light. I must give the RFL a pat on the back for having the foresight to take the Magic weekend to another exciting city.
The nightlife is supposed to be excellent too so for those drinkers amongst us, maybe staying the one night will be worth the hotel fee!

I've previously suggested the 'Festival of Rugby League'. Maybe 'Super League Festival' or whatever, but I think staging this event as a festival is important, as it may help people see it for what it is, a chance for fans to gather, have a good time, sample some great Rugby, have some fun out and about the stadium etc. all things that link to Music Festivals.

Still undecided weather or not to stay over and go out around Manchester Saturday night.

Anyone made any plans for the Magic Weekend yet?

That would depend on if the other half is going to accompany you

I've been given a weekend pass out would you believe mate...
In that case I feel it's only right if I stop over and get slightly drunk.

To be honest you should thank her for keeping you in last night (it wasn't all that great I'm told) and if your around I might have to meet up with you for a few on the Saturday/Sunday. It's only £7.80 return BDI - MCV so you could get the last train out of Victoria and be back again on the first

That's what I was originally thinking mate...
If we stop over I suppose it's less hassle but it's an exspensive hassle.
Travel Lodge by the Stadium is going for £60+ for Saturday night which isn't too bad I suppose.
