He should do well for them, got a great mazy running game with a terrific side-step. Unfortunately his first-team chances have been blocked at Wigan.
What I'm looking for is someone who can contribute to what England has given to the world: culture, sophistication, genius. A little bit more than an 'ot dog, know what I mean?

Unless Wigan are bringing someone in, with Joel Tomkins departure he's vying with Goulding for the centre shirt, I know Goulding has been handed the number 3 shirt, but he has it all to prove in that position at first team level.Unfortunately his first-team chances have been blocked at Wigan.

Charnley should be given a crack at 3. He was excellent at centre when on loan at Hull KR.

Is that because of English players, or is it because of overseas players?

No idea, might just be a case of the Wigan coaching staff rating him below the other players on their books in that position. Even if he's not up to speed right for Wigan, he'll certainly do a good job for Widnes as I previously stated.

I'd prefer Marsh to Senior any day.......

Marsh hasn't made the promised impact in his few opportunities given to him so far, with stiff competition from other young lads at Wigan for places maybe this move could be the making of him.

Neither - it's because he's not quite good enough. Is that because of English players, or is it because of overseas players?

For a one season loan deal Senior would be the much better signing IMO.I'd prefer Marsh to Senior any day.......

If thats the case. Why is it a loan deal and why are Wigan holding onto him?

TBF some of the youngsters we've put on longer term loans have really proved themselves and returned to grab a first team spot. J Tomkins, Farrell, and I think Tuson, as well as Charnley (though Charnely's was a shorter term loan).
I really hope this happens with Marsh as well.

Simple really - players with potential improve with experience. If he currently does not have the opportunity to gain experience he won'r improve. By holding on to him Wigan are sticking to their investment with the hope that he'll come back stronger

Charnley at centre would be a much better choice than Goulding i think.. proved on loan at HKR the potential he has, and centre is his natural position. Think Marsh lacks a bit of pace from what i've seen of him.. maybe the regular game time at Widnes will do him good though, and prove a few people wrong.

So the coaches at Widnes are better than those at Wigan?

When I said "experience" I meant game time.......all the best coaching in the world will be laid to waste if he gets no game time. At Widnes, he will get game time and valueable super league experience - better that than watching from the sidelines.....capiche?

I guess Wigan think Marsh has potential and are hoping that regular 1st team football might bring it to the surface. Also, centres are a rarity these days so I would guess that Wigan are hoping that Marsh does come through. If thats the case. Why is it a loan deal and why are Wigan holding onto him?
Personally, injury crises apart, I think Marsh might not play for Wigan again.
