Myself, Simon Foster and others are going to launch a fund-raising campaign to honour the legendary Trevor Foster with a permanent memorial gate at Odsal Stadium.
Now as everyone should know Trevor was not only Mr Bradford Northern/Bulls but also Mr Rugby League through and through, and as we all know it was his enthusiasm, passion and vision that was highly instrumental in laying the foundations for the clubs reformation in 1963 after it's subsequent fold and demise earlier on in that year.
The Trevor Foster Memorial Fund (as it'll be known) is a campaign for a set of memorial gates at Odsal, which supporters would pass on matchdays.
We hope that the TFMF can raise £10,000 within a 12-month window, which would then pay for the memorial and hopefully fund a celebration at the start of the 2013 season (the 50th year of the rebirth due in 2013).
Simon Foster says:
“This is a marvellous idea for a worthwhile project.
“I am certain that my father would be very proud to have one of his many achievements at Odsal recognised in such a way, particularly since the concept has come from the supporters of the club with whom he had such a warm relationship.
“I remember well the early 1960s as a schoolboy in Bradford and my dad, along with Joe Phillips, was so determined that the club would not die.
“He attended meetings all over the place – almost every night he was out of the house – and cajoled and inspired everyone to get involved in the “resurrection” as he called it.
“I am sure the club will be open to moving the project forward so that there is sufficient time to raise the necessary funds to the benefit of everyone who comes to Odsal.
“After all, my father was the supreme fundraiser during his time at the club between 1938 and 2005.”

One of my fondest memories of all our success in the first decade of Super League was seeing Trevor with the Challenge Cup at Murrayfield. What a gent - really hope this does well. I can't see why it won't.

Have you had the job priced. Or is £10,000 a guesstimate?

Great gentleman of the game. Had the pleasure of meeting and talking to Trevor on several occasions. Great idea. Good luck.

Trevor was a gentlemen, an ambasador for both our sport and Bradford and also a proud Welshman. This would be a fantastic memorial for him.
How about organising a game of ex Bradford players v a Welsh invitational XIII? Also, what about a shirt from the 40s with his name and number on the back? I know I'd buy one and come to the game.
I thought that was Roger Simpson next to Nigel Stephenson...

I'm not mad but I am...

Back row, fourth from the left is my cricket colleague and friend, the late Martin Potts.
And when they found our shadows
Grouped around the TV sets
They ran down every lead
They repeated every test
They checked out all the data on their lists
And then the alien anthropologists
Admitted they were still perplexed
But on eliminating every other reason
For our sad demise
They logged the only explanation left
This species has amused itself to death
No tears to cry no feelings left

Front row left is Gary Brentley mate, former northern, great character, father of ex dudley hill, doncaster and sheffield hooker liam, who miraculously survived being shot in the head in afghanistan while on a royal marines tour. Proud to call him a very good friend of mine!

I'll put forward both points at the meeting on Tuesday in Leeds.

Francis Jarvis
The legend that is Franny Jarvis.
He was my coach when I played for Undercliffe and let me tell you his coaching techniques are the stuff of legend.

I remember his body looked like it was made of sculpted concrete...
And looking at the photo he still looks incredibly fit and just as fearsome..
So who are the missing two names then?

Just a quick bump in that we hope to officially launch the Trevor Foster Memorial Fund before a packed Odsal at the Wigan home game on Sunday 19/2/12.
