Are you aware that if you have a South Yorkshire Bus Pass, that you can travel free to this game from Sheffield, via Northern Rail, thanks to Gordon Brown.....Like Arthur before him, history will agree they were unsung hero's....

Sorry but this is a spectacularly misleading post.

You can travel free of charge on Northern Rail services between South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire if you have a South Yorkshire PTE-issued pass as a disabled or older person. That's the white pass with the cross of St George on. It doesn't apply to any other passes that might be described as a "South Yorkshire Bus Pass" e.g. TravelMasters or Day Tripper.

This has rather little to do with Gordon Brown. The Blair Government (with Brown as Chancellor) implemented free local bus travel in 2006 and the Brown Government extended it to free England-wide bus travel in 2008. Neither of them mandated free local train travel and central Government funding doesn't cover this. The rail concession is funded locally by South Yorkshire Integrated Transport Authority.

Thanks for the correction you have added to my post the words I missed off.....Obviously you are also correct that Gordon Brown had no influence whatsoever on this policy and the South Yorkshire Integrated Transport Authority was not influenced by any association with the Brown Government.......I might know a bit more about this than you think....
