Am excited to see the outcome of this game and the type of media attention that this gets as its building up nicely with teh Wire players taking this quite seriously and the Aussie press looking at this game very closely and how the Super League Club goes down under.

This game should have been shown by Sky.

It will also be fascinating to see how Matt King goes on his debut against his old club.

If Wire can win it will be a magnificent achievement and maybe open the door for an expanded World Club Challenge/Champions League.

Great to see these quotes from Briers and Simon Moran the Wire owner.

Victory would offer a signal of intent to rivals back home but Briers is thinking about the bigger picture.

“A win would get the Warrington Wolves brand known better because there’ll be more newspaper coverage and more television notice,” said the 33-year-old stand off.

That has been one of the aims of owner Simon Moran and the board of directors during the three-week training camp in Sydney.

“We’ll be going full-on in this game and I’m sure South Sydney will too. It’s like a mini World Club Challenge,” he added.

Whilst I don't know much about the South's squad, I believe that their squad is not the full first team.

The game is also being played in a 5k capacity ground.

As a Bunnies fan I must concur.

Shame we won't get to see it live.

Why's that? You really don't need a stadium for training.

There is nothing to suggest that their facilities are a world apart.

Just reading up on Redfern Oval, it was their home ground until 1987, and they now play an annual Return to Redfern pre-season game.

Correct, ive heard Warrington is the perfect place this time of year for warm weather training! From what I gather they stay in the gym and turn the heaters up full blast!

Warrington may be taking it seriously, but for Souths it's just the first trial match of the year. Most of the 19 man squad aren't regular first teamers anyway. And I suspect if Matt King is fit to play, he won't be playing for too long. He's probably asked to play only because it's Warrington. As for Sky showing it, why? It's not even on TV down under - it's only a pre-season game.

It won't be a magnificent achievement at all. I would expect Warrington to beat a virtual reserve team. As for the quotes by Briers and Moran, well I guess they have to talk the game up, but the line about it being a mini WCC is farcical. It's nothing of the sort.

That's no good for Wire's 6,000* travelling army of fans.

I think all RL fans in this counrty should hope this tour goes well for the sake of our clubs. A Wire win will make the Aussies take note more so than Leeds beating a jet lagged Manly in the WCC. A step closer to a RL Champions League if Wire win I think.

To be fair we only travel in those numbers when Moran pays for our transport.

This game means jack. Why should it have been shown on Sky? It'll go the same way as the Rhinos/Rabbits trial game a few years back where Leeds ran up a 22 point lead in the 1st half playing their full team before the Rabbitohs pegged it back a bit in the 2nd half when both teams play more fringe/20's players.

Ok, so it's understandable Wire being nervous about their opposition first up in SL 2012, but to fly to OZ to face an NRL side in an attempt to prepare themselves for Feb 5th seems a bit extreme to me.

If Warrington win tomorrow it won't make a blind bit of difference to the Aussies. It's a pre season game where Souths are fielding a virtual reserve team. It's not important.

Well lets wait and see what comes of the game tmro. Though I do agree its a big gamble by Smith to go over to Sydney and return 5 days before they face a tough away start at hull who could be up to make amends for the hammerings we gave them last year. Though the experience of training down under may inspire the team to go up a level and the young stars like evans, riley and o'brien to go on and become top test players in the future. Its a bold move but these are great times in the history of the club and by pushing the boundaries like this I think the club should be applauded.
