West:
Bradford Dudley Hill A
Elland A
Ovenden A
Siddal A
Hunslet Warriors A
Stanningley A
West Bradford Barbarians
Dewsbury Moor

Central:
Oulton Raiders A
East Leeds A
Milford Marlins A
Featherstone Lions A
Shaw Cross Sharks A
North Yorkshire Stallions
Fryston Warriors
Cutsyke Raiders

East:
West Hull A
East Hull A
Skirlaugh A
Hull Dockers A
Heworth A
York Acorn A
Holderness Vikings
York Lokomotive

I don't know who is in the merit league and I wouldn't be surprised if Scarborough were looking North East as thought they'd be up for this.

Clubs play home and away plus two clubs from other divisions home and away to make 18. Not sure how the playoffs work but they have 4 rounds.

What's happening with Leeds Akkies?

Pottsy, can you advise please? I played a game for the club last year before tearing my hamstring two days after! I was looking at playing again this year...

I'm amazed Bowes has managed to get hold of this much information (he's like a latter day J Edgar Hoover). However, he's only got a fraction of the picture.

Don't worry about the Akkies, Geordie Saint. I've seen the full breakdown and our new first team league looks very enticing indeed. Unfortunately, it's all underwrs for the time being (there are a few hints on our website news section though). It's looking very exciting for all our open age teams though

' A ' teams do not exist any more for the NCL reserves , it's just their Tier 4 side. P.R. stuff and all that , but it will look better to Joe Public.....

Bowes, you're slipping. It's nearly 10.15am and you still haven't got the rest of the picture yet. I'm disappointed in you

Is this correct then ? Previous A teams are now classed as NCL Tier 4 - Good idea.

They've scrapped the regional format and replaced it with a divisional one I haven't yet seen.

The gradual drip feed and chopping and changing of the new leagues is understandable, but frustrating. It may take a while to settle down properly.

Does anyone know if all the merit divisions will allow cross-region fixtures? This is something the RFL needs to get on top of so that there is consistency across regions. Some local autonomy is good, but there has to be a solid framework underpinning it.

Meanwhile, it looks like the West Riding Youth League 12s-15s have joined the summer exodus, and this will force the hand of the Yorkshire Combination league and the whole of Yorkshire juniors will be summer. Long term this will change the perception of when rugby league is played and the bulk of the remaining adult leagues will inevitably follow.

Having Fryston and North Yorkshire Stallions in one division as one example is presumably why the change. Realistically they don't have enough summer clubs for an easy format. The original proposal was premier then 3 regionals with divisions below them but not enough interest.

Hopefully that will gradually change as more teams switch. I thought it was going to be impossible to switch in future but they're keeping the Wars of the Roses which will make it easier to switch to summer (winter leagues would have to accept clubs that have missed 2-3 months of fixtures so less practical).

Shaw Cross are looking to get a fixture for our reserve team next Saturday (11th of February)away from home if anyone is interested? Our first team are playing a friendly this week against West Hull at home but a few lads will miss out so we want to give them a game next week if possible.

I can assure anyone that may be interested that it will be a second team, made up mainly of young lads and a couple of guys that are new to the game plus some players that have joined from other clubs that we want to have a look at.

Please contact Brett Turner on: 07837995663

Thanks

Divisional format makes much more sense. Anyone seen it yet?

Yeah. They've pretty much just made an educated guess at team's playing strength and put them in three divisions. There'll be plenty of movement between now and then so the divisions you imagine are probably close to what they've come up with.

My educated guess would be (and I'll be interested to see how close I am)

Premier:
Fryston
Cutsyke
West Hull
Skirlaugh
Siddal
Hunslet Warriors
York Acorn
Stanningley

Division 1:
Holderness
East Hull
Hull Dockers
East Leeds
Milford
Ovenden
Oulton
Bradford Dudley Hill

Division 2:
Featherstone Lions
Elland
Shaw Cross
Heworth
North Yorkshire Stallions
York Lokomotive
Dewsbury Moor (just a development team)
West Bradford (though who knows?)

Wouldn't be surprised if they end up putting Dewsbury Moor in premier by mistake thinking it's their first team.

From memory, Posted Image
Swap Hull Dockers with Cutsyke
Swap Holderness with Shaw cross.

It appears they are running an RLC type league (May - Aug) for the likes of Scarboro, Leeds Akkies, Rockware, Walton, Barnsley, Rotherham etc as well.

Sounds like I wasn't far off though. Yeah heard about the other leagues heard there was a fair bit of interest and a merit league below?

West Bradford will play in the development league, however that looks. Will play out of Clayton ARLFC and coached by Simon Mitchell, head coach at Bank Top Harriers. The aim is simply to allow lads who fancy a run out in Summer to play, and then return the winter afterwards. Each player has to wear the socks of their winter club!!
