Due to the need of the Chancellor, I have to be in work again this Sunday and can't make the last friendly, If anyone who is going and who are able to post some regular updates on the score then it would be most appreciated.

I didn't expect that!
Be now the fun is over
York away in 2 weeks would be a good start.

Even allowing for injuries and a small squad not a good result! lets hope Steve Mack gets it sorted in time for the big kick off at York in a fortnight.Wonder if they still do San Miguel Wadey?

The most disappointing thing about today was they were very beatable. We looked boring, un-inventive, and for the first 20 minutes we wernt even trying. Take nothing away from warrington they looked like a well drilled side and have a few prospects for the future in there aswell. i.e Number 33 and 35 (nudge nudge wink wink steve mc
)
The things that really stand out from todays game are that:
1. We are BADLY missing a proper loose forward!!!
2. When Watson doesnt play we look absolutely clueless (dont think we set up one move in 2nd half)
3. Hurst hasnt improved from last season, when he didnt look good enough.
4. David Mills isnt looking particularly fit.
Positives to be taken from todays game:
1. Chaz I'anson seems to be improving every week, some excellent breaks and dummys shown by him today.
2. The new lads (although seemingly lacking size) tackled very well when they came on, not sure where they have come from, or what positions they were in? Website please.
3. Darren Hawkyards tackling.
If we play like that in the league/cup we will get battered week in, week out.

We looked very limited offensively after Wattos injury last season and I was surprised weve not brought in another quality playmaker as cover.Karl Ashall didnt look upto it last season at scrum half although no doubting his ability in other positions.Thankfully it was a friendly and hopefully Steve Mack will have taken something positive from the game that will stand us in good stead when the season proper starts at York on Feb 12th.

A genenerally poor performance today. Missed tackles leading to some soft 1st half tries.
I'Anson looked like he could create something today, but we missed Watto badly.
Not sure about some of the comments, the I'Anson try in the 2nd half came from an obviously rehearsed and perfectly executed "move". We need a loose, but I though Cunniffe was bloody good today and goes through more work than anyone, maybe equalled by Darren Hawkyard.
The new lads played for 10 mins and did nothing special at all (we conceded 2 tries after they came on), more game time needed before any judgement is made on them.
Not sure what Al Hurst did wrong today? Nor last season, he was impressive in a lot of games last season and it showed as the crowd got behind him, just as we do when Rob Foxen goes on a charge.
At the end of the day, it's the third pre-season game, not a time for panic or harsh and ill judged comments, Steve Mack knows what he's doing, I'll keep my confidence in him.

Alex hurst is a centre/wing, how many tries did he score last year? compared to the others? Granted the lad tackles well above his weight, but hes also cost us one or two tries as well. You can say the same about Foxen but at least he looks dangerous when he has the ball. Of course the crowd are going to get behind him, they want him to do well like any other player, as do I, im not picking on the guy, its just my opinion as is alot of others that he simply isnt as good as the other options weve got, hes lacking a couple of yards of pace for a utility back. And ok, you have named one 'move' in the second half. But I can count how many times the ball went through two pairs of hands on one hand. And I think its unfair to relate the two tries we conceded towards the end to the new lads coming on, we were poor defensively all game (except for a solid patch the first 15mins of the second half).
Im not panicking or making ill judged comments, I know for a fact we can play ten times better than what we did today, what concerns me is the lack of professionalism in dealing with the game. There was a clear lack or urgency, intensity and commitment that we simply will not get away with when the season starts. And as for my comments, I say it as I see it.
Im 110% certain steve mc will have his say and iron out any problems.

3. Darren Hawkyard's tackling.
I like Darren, he's a real workaholic trier, always giving near 100%. Players such a he, are what we used to call "grafters".
That what make a good team - a blend of skillful players and grafters. Such were the teams in the '60s when the Lions were rampant on many occasions.

Again, ill judged an extremely harsh comments. He played 12 times last season due to injuries and starting the season playing both codes if I remember correctly.
Dodd, Mort and Foxen played 26, 24 and 26 respectively without serious injury. You can't really compare can you?
All I remember is that he was given a majority vote for MOM on this board when we got demolished by Warrington, when we really got to know our players and who cares about Swinton Lions. He also had a top game against Keighley and scored arguably the try of the game. He also scored another contender for try of the game when we won the league against South Wales in which he outpaced the South Wales backs for 50/60 yards as well as about 3 huge hand offs.
Compare him to the other options we've got? Kev Penny, rapid, not scored in 3 games, not had the chance to prove himself at this level either. Sam Reay played 10-11 last season due to injury and failed to register a try. Dean Thompson, released, Richard Flooks, released. We don't have a whole lot of options really but Hursty gets in the first team all day long, in my own opinion of course. Rob Foxen scored 17 tries last season but look at the "squad 2012" page, most people don't have him in our starting 13 at all!
So yes, I feel your comments are ill judged.
And I wasn't saying we conceded the two tries because of the two new lads, but it's fact that they were on the pitch when they scored and they did nothing special at all, yet your willing to give them more of a chance than the lads that gave us our first title in 24 years.
And Steve Mack picked Hursty for the Scotland team so I very much doubt he agrees with your comments that he hasn't improved since last season, and yes, that is what matters.
It was a bad performance today, but we'll move on and get stronger, see you at York in two weeks.

Darren Hawkyard was probably my MOM today, he was awesome in defence, as has become the norm!
