However, the City Council has addressed these issues by having a series of Park-and-Ride stations where a regular bus service runs at reasonable cost into the city centre. I would suggest that a hotel next to a Park-and-Ride station might be an option.

As well as the railway museum, the Castle Museum is also a must. If the weather's pleasant, a walk along the city walls is recommended.
Last time I passed through York, I noticed a big Ferris wheel in the grounds of the hotel by the station. Should be good for a nice aerial view of what is a very picturesque city.

Check out when the Knights are at home, Huntington Stadium is next to Monks Cross Shopping Centre so while you watch the match your partner can go shopping, other things you must do.

That is a big queue.Tea a Betty's is a must but the queues for the York one were massive when we were there. We went to the one in Harrogate in the end.

As a resident of said city, I shall come back with a few suggestions as to where to stay, eat, drink and visit when I have a bit more time.
What's your hotel budget? Restaurant budget etc?
