What on earth is going on with the Super League coverage in NZ and Aus?
Maori TV have won the rights and aren't broadcasting any of the games live (except Grand Final, Challenge Cup Final and WCC). 6pm on a Saturday instead??
Anyone know why Sky Sport pulled out? Are Fox still showing the games in Aus?

As I understand it there current position of Sky coverage of NRL is in the pending tray.
From what I can tell Sky NZ still wants to cover NRL in 2012. Their contract ran out 2011 and negotiations appear to be stalled until the new NRL Independent Commission is fully up and running and in a position to get the right deal for the game.
This can't be a good state of affairs for the NZ viewers, the broadcasters or the game.
Maybe they'll put interim or temporary arrangements in place so as to show any games in the meantime, for example the All Stars game.
A main priority for the game should be the consideration of its fans and the income stream enabled.
From the outside it does seem less than satisfactory. On the other hand brinkmanship is well used tactic.

That's even worse!! I didn't know that they hadn't secured the NRL rights either. It's bad enough that they don't have the UK Super League, but if there's no NRL it's game over for my subscription!!

Channel 9 have the rights to the Super League in Australia and they usually show matches either extraordinarily late or not at all. At least Channel Nine will be showing the World Club Challenge live on Saturday 18th February (7am kick off) here in Australia.

I rang Channel 9 Sydney program information a week ago. They told me that their contract with super league expired at the end of 2011.

Surely they'll sort something out even if to start with it is on a week to week basis.
