Would agree its less structured than the NRL, but depends on weather your a fan of that style of RL. Agree with the quote on the top and bottom gap being greater over here. We need the lower SL sides to step up this season and not just give up 3/4 of the way through the year like some sides did last season.

In general they have a point. But there are exceptions.

For example there is nothing more exciting than the New Zealand Warriors attacking game, with Shaun Johnson at scrum half, James Maloney at five eighth, Kevin Locke at full back, an Manu Vatuvei on the wing.

And when Benji Marshall is in form the Wests Tigers play an exciting sttscking game.

Also let us not forget the excitement of Matty Bowen and Johnathan Thurston in attack at the North Queensland Cowboys.
Le rugby a treize, c'est moi!

Excellent comments from Finch and Monaghan.
Astute analysis from a Wigan fan:

Rumour going around Headingley that Wire will have to play the second half with 12 men.

It seems that they forgot to bring the half time oranges, and Solomona ate Chris Bridge instead.

Don't know why he was hungry, as he looked as though he had eaten the whole youth team before the game started.

Yes but with tongue in cheek? C'mon, how many of those that do come over here ever speak in this manner when still playing in the NRL......none may I suggest.

As for the Warrington side expanding their attacking qualities, just how much so would Manly and co have done so versus some of the defensive frailties we all saw so poorly displayed from at least half of the S/L teams last season?

That is the prime reason why the attacks of our top sides look so great on attack and why when our elite players come up against the the Aussies elite, they often look bereft of attacking ideas so much so as to make them look inadequate.

I will not be taking the S/L this term for financial reasons as well as the fact that the NRL is so much more entertaining and above all so much more competetive too.

SL players say SL more entertaining shocker. Each to his own but I will watch a NRL game over most SL games everytime as the standards are better.

I dont read anything into this, of course players playing in the Super league say that, imo noone in the super league is any near close to being as exciting to watch as teams like the West Tigers, Warriors, Storm or Manly and State of Origin of course. Im stunned Joel Monaghan is even talking to the media, I believe if you type Joel Monaghan dog, or something in that nature you can see him in a picture with a dog in a sex position.

I gave up on the NRL a while back, it bores the pants of me, way to formulaic. It'll soon be as dull as its American cousin the crave to be like.

Perhaps, but do you really give a damn when England are sliding to another Four Nations final (in a good year) defeat?

I prefer the comment by WR to that one and totally agree with it. For if you find that the NRL is as you imply, too much like and heading to be as grid-iron, then I do believe you are a little delusional.

The NRL sad as it is to have to admit to is easily and far away the highest standard at which Rugby League is played, the simple fact that we cannot(and in all honesty we simply can't) compete on a level plane with them at rep level, gives full credence to that fact.

Calling great attack as such is only feasible when it is countered by great defence! We witness that effect far to infrequently in the S/L something so clearly displayed whenever we come up against the Aussies, on the majority of occasions presently, for the past 30 years and probably into the forseeable future also.

On the last bit I do hope not but I would not be holding breath over that either, would you? :)

Well said Wiltsy! SSG! SSG!!

I enjoy the NRL and State of Origin but the SoO has got too unruly, the Refs need to crack down on the foul play. Plus as I said in my 'PtB' thread the Aussies are completely messing up the 'ruck', in elite level RL, to speed up the game too much.
