Think Widnes did well to get 8000 for their first game back in SL. In sub zero temperatures, with the game on Sky it was a decent turnout.

My only critisism is that its took Widnes nearly ten years to get into super league and its only took their fans 70 minutes to do the Wigan walk! :)

Way to dig Wigan and Widnes in the same sentence...

Six actually, but let's not let facts get in the way of you having a dig at Widnes.
Widnes - Super League's newest Club, and Cheshire's Original Glamour Club. Watch out Warrington, we're back !

I promise to pay £10 to the Charity of jannerboyuk's choice if the token Welsh Team ( whatever they are called this Month ) finish higher in Super League 2012 than the mighty Widnes.

1. They did magnificently to get this crowd,,,,,,

2. That sentence is garbage.....

3. That attitude is garbage.....

I like posting on here because most of the posters are thoughtful and intelligent. The debates sometimes get personal and posters (inc myself) also get a bit personal but half the fault is the medium itself. I'm sure that if people stand back and think we can improve the level of debate....

The question is are you "in"??

Wendall gets you hook line and sinker.... Shame he's a troll

Back on thread

Fantastic for Widnes to get a 8000 crowd and I standby my thoughts they'll average 8000, they've got a great chance to push this figure to 9000 in their first season with great marketing....push the boundaries and target Runcorn , helsby, Fordsham, ellesmere port schools with cheap tickets for the lesser games and bob your uncle....... FANTASTIC

I am one proud Cheshire Man today as you Chemics backed your team......just hope your team back themselves and make you proud.
Well done Widnes

Ignoring the moronic OP does make life easier.

But credit to Widnes I thought 8,000+ was a decent gate for a nuts-freezing match on Sky against Wakefield.  Building on that will be tough without better results though.

Good effort all round.Good turnout, good travelling support, decent game, pitch worked fine and less involvement of the two idiots - it took Stevo 80 secs to come up with his 'analysis' of a ''forward pass'',which went a yard backwards.Lets hope Sky are preparing us for them both bowing out at the end of the season.

Not according to the players. Many complaining about it on twitter, including Widnes players, about being 'cut to ribbons' by it.

If the pitch had been frozen, there would have been just as many grazes. Not like Derwent to find the negatives!

Player welfare is important you moron, in fact it should be paramount, which is why they don't play on frozen pitches. Who should I believe - some inconsequential nobody who thinks the pitch was fine from watching on the telly or the players who actually played on it ? When players, including the Widnes ones, are complaining of having cuts and burns all over them and some saying they have no skin left on their elbows then it needs to be looked at.
