Looking forward to this one. Will the Pies bounce back or will the Winos make it 2/2.

May have to place some duct tape across the bottom of the pub tv screen to prevent any updates from France spoiling my enjoyment.

Wigan 18 Leeds 20.
Posted Image Why are  most Union scores divisible by three?..Beats me.

9/12/ 2011, Cardiff Blues and Edinburgh fight an even Heineken Cup clash scoring one try apiece. Final score Cardiff 25 Edinburgh 8.
30/3/2012,  Sale visit Newcastle and score 3 tries to 1 in a one sided game. Final score Newcastle 22 Sale 19.
18/5/2012, Amlin Challenge Cup Final, Biarritz 21 Toulon 18, (7 pens v 5 pens and drop goal, tries:- zip, none, sod all)

Wigan 18 Leeds 20.

The first classic of the season and also the first chance for Phil Clarke to feed the Margin Meter superhuman Wigan stats.

Don't be shocked if at kick-off it predicts Wigan to win by 40.

Bit harsh on Hull/Wire and Wigan/Hudds as they sounded classics in their own right yesterday. Certainly the first mouthwatering match on tv this year though, I'll give you that. Think Wigan only just, with Leeds having one eye on the WCC

Agree, mick disrespecting other clubs Posted Image

Wigan due to Leeds having an eye on the WCC........ But Wigan need to improved based on the highlights shown on sky, too many silly mistakes (very unlike Wigan)

I am hoping that tis will be a classic. They so often are. Maybe even a draw. Regardless of who is coaching us, our boys will be up for this.

This is the match where I always want both sides to lose.  So I'm going for a draw.  Preferably 0-0!

Swap Smith out for Bish, and I'll be happy :)

I've gone with Wigan. They will come out all guns blazing after last week and who knows if we will have an eye on the week after. It's #WatkinsWatch time though and I can't wait to see his battle with Carmont (I think) :)

Smithy was the big disappointment for me from Friday night’s game.
Boxing day he was poor and I was quite surprised he played in Burrow’s testimonial, and I’m glad he did because he was awesome. Everything from his kicking within general play, to making a fair few line breaks and also setting up a couple of tries, I thought he’d turned a corner but defensively against KR he was poor.
Was that because he didn’t get much support from Watkins? Possibly.

We will have to see on Saturday how he gets on.

Defensively it was nothing to do with Watkins though as he was defending further in field. Sinfield was the next man in, in the defensive line and had a stinker all night himself.

Quote

Wigan Warriors forward Liam Farrell has elected to make an Early Guilty Plea after being charged with committing a Grade B offence during his club's 20-16 Stobart Super League defeat by Huddersfield Giants on Sunday.

Farrell was charged with making dangerous contact on Huddersfield's Leroy Cudjoe in the 40th minute and has been suspended for one match after becoming the first players to accept an Early Guilty Plea.

The option to take an Early Guilty Plea is available to any player who has been charged with an offence of Grade A to C and who has not been found guilty of any other charge of on field misconduct or who has not submitted a previous Early Guilty Plea in the 12 months preceding the date of the match in which the alleged offence took place.

I read about this on Twitter this afternoon!
Interesting. Is this an easy way out for the RFL I wonder?

I don't think the WCC will have a negative effect on Leeds, the contrary if anything as they will want to go into the Manly game fully firing on a high. Inevitably there will be a backlash from the WCC a few weeks down the line (notes Catalans running amock at DW last season).

The early guilty plea merely means the disciplinary panel don't review the offence, I presume that by pleading guilty before it goes to the disciplinary a player hopes that any ban imposed may be reduced, don't know who decides what the punishment is though. No doubt its a cost saving excersise for the RFL as well.

i posted on here before the Hudds game i had concerns after the Salford game.

it was the same performance, lazy, predictable and completely cluessless last kick option.

Teams have worked Wigan out so they are not so effective in the tackle area and Sam is closed down easy.

we have a world cup winning hooker playing 7 who cannot kick, has never been able to kick! we are playing one of the most dangerous players in Sam in a position where he is out of the game for long periods.

Pat Richards has lost all speed since his injury and needs to move to fullback. Sam to 7 and Tommy to 9 and we will fare far better.

Leeds to win this and comfortably.
