Widnes Vikings have full confidence in the safety of their artificial pitch despite criticism from some Wakefield Trinity Wildcats players.

Widnes - Super League's newest Club, and Cheshire's Original Glamour Club. Watch out Warrington, we're back !

I promise to pay £10 to the Charity of jannerboyuk's choice if the token Welsh Team ( whatever they are called this Month ) finish higher in Super League 2012 than the mighty Widnes.

Despite criticism from a number of WIDNES players as well

And it's OK for Widnes to make this announcement but it doesn't change the fact that a number of players if feared bad burns, not grazes, some of which might leave scarred tissue.

Utter garbage.More injuries would have been caused playing on a hard, frozen surface.Find something else to complain about.

No any decent ref would pass a frozen pitch as unplayable
As for the idiot who passed the pitch fit for play at Salford or was it Sky?

noticed a lot more of the widnes players were wearing the long sleeved under garment as if they already knew there was a problem, players wont want to wear long sleeved thermal underclothes in the height of summer though.

Wonder if coaches will look to use and abuse the blood bin at Widnes, as it does seem to add to taking skin off the knees and elbows area. Halifax U23 played Crusaders at Widnes on Sunday and a number of players were left with next badly grazed knees and elbows.

We may end up with players wearing underarmour leggings at Widnes then.

Just because one doesn't go through official channels doesn't mean there's nothing to copmplain about. Some of those twitter pics looked bad. But the icy conditions may have contruibuted the the injuries. Widnes should be given the benefit of the doubt. If these severe scrapes contnue in mild conditions, questions should be asked about whether they chose the right kind of synthetic surface.

Blood bin subs only occur when a player is injured after foul play that results in a red card or an on report. in that case the receives a "free" interchange. so i doubt how coaches will be able to abuse it!

I still have a scar on my knee obtained from a severe cut/burn sustained at Wakefield Trinity's ground during a game in April quite a few years ago. Hard surfaces are hard surfaces.

Didn't stop me scoring a sensational second half try though
