Is that for the older age groups ,I know on the west riding website, they are trying to set up a summer league for U8's to 11's
Technically if you join the Yorkshire League ALL your teams have to be in it. However, we have been allowed to keep our younger age groups in the Midlands playing in "non-competitive" development competitions so if, as the article suggests, the West Riding 8-11s is similar then the clubs would be able to join both.
I think the younger ages should stay as local as possible, even if the leagues merge, to help reduce the travelling.

Were the West Riding and Yorkshire Leagues originally geographically split?I think the younger ages should stay as local as possible, even if the leagues merge, to help reduce the travelling.

Were the West Riding and Yorkshire Leagues originally geographically split?
Largely - West Riding were based around Huddersfield, Halifax, Keighley and Bradford with some Lancashire teams (Littleborough and I think West Craven are examples). Leeds, York, Dewsbury, Wakefield, Castleford and South Yorks were Yorkshire Juniors although some clubs would cross over if they had an argument with one of the leagues. That can't really hpapen anymore.
I assume the Lancs clubs will have to go to the North West or face significantly extra travel.

They moved over in September after the demise of the 15s in West Riding. Geographically, they are not placed that far from what was the eastern boundary in the first place and decided that it was easier for them to move west.

Does anyone know what's happened to the yorkshire junior website,it's been down for a while.
Problems with the ISP (I think). Charlie apologised at the meeting and said it would be back ASAP

Littleborough and West Craven joined the NWC 8 - 12s last night along with ourselves as new clubs to the NWC 8 - 12s league.

This doesn't discount the possibility of a winter division for die hards though I doubt it.
