Hi all, please see below a message from Featherstone Rovers Chairman, Mark Campbell.

Dear Supporters, members and Sponsors

First of all I'd like to thank you for your continued support through a very difficult time. The economic climate has seen us all tightening our belts! Secondly I'd like to share with you my vision for the club and with your help and support, how we can get there.

Destination Super league

I believe we have a fantastic opportunity of gaining a licence in 2014. Whilst we continue to dominate the Championship we are also developing our player pathway for the outstanding talent on our doorstep - already a notable success in Zak Hardaker, I see no reason why we can't continue the success we have all enjoyed with Daryl at the helm. However to apply for a licence we must improve as a business off the field to allow the club to keep improving on it. The ingredients of this are to be sustainable which includes a target of raising our turnover from 1m to 2m in 18 months, In my opinion this is totally realistic with the right expertise and drive on the board.

The next AGM will be a watershed in the clubs proud history in establishing how ambitious the club really is!! (will we grab the opportunity or will we settle for being stuck in the championship?) The make up of the board WILL be board members who can fill these key roles and have the energy and commitment to make things happen!

Board Member & Title Responsibilities

COMMERCIAL
(New Ceo) (New Investor) Sponsorship portfolio, fan base = turnover = PROFIT

MERCHANDISE/RETAIL Brand awareness, fan base = turnover = PROFIT

CLUBHOUSE/EVENTS
Tony Lumb / New CEO Fan base , turnover = PROFIT

RUGBY
Mark Campbell / New CEO Trophies , fan base , crowds , turnover = PROFIT

COMMUNITY/FOUNDATION
Dave Downs / Adrian Green Increase crowds ,brand awareness, grants = turnover = PROFIT

STADIUM
Paul Coventry, Steve Godber,
Mark Campbell Enhance supporters experience , sponsors , crowds turnover = PROFIT

LOTTERY Brand awareness , turnover = PROFIT

MATCHDAY Improve enhance the match day experience for all , bigger crowds = PROFIT

PROFIT = Sustainability, growth, success

Our stadium

We have done a great bit of business in securing two modern 1300 seater stands and with the club owning its own stadium and the 17 acres it sits on, puts us in a great position and way in front of our near neighbours; not to mention our rivals in the Championship.

To get these in place we need a commercial partner who shares our drive and ambition, I have a partner who would love to join us in our "Destination Super League" who only works with forward thinking enterprises, we have to show them that we too have a board who share that drive and ambition. If you think you have the drive, ambition and skills please contact me on (edited).

I'm sure we all want this club back in Super League, let's not let this opportunity slip through our hands! I sincerely hope you all attend the AGM on the 20th February when we can all have some input in the make up of the board as this is just as important as the 17 Daryl picks to pull on the famous shirt (we can't / won't carry passengers) and ultimately the clubs future.

Kind regards

Mark Campbell
Managing Director

Looks like the Featherstone Rovers REVOLUTION is starting to move forward at an increasingly rapid pace.

This is one of the big announcements that was promised when we re signed Kyle Briggs with more news to come at the AGM as stated in the letter.

Our target of 1000 season ticket sales is also getting close to reaching the target

In the current financial mess its a great achievement by any club to move forward but with the stadium upgrades already happening at the club the Chairman is achieving REMARKABLE results.

UP THE SUPER ROVERS

I don't know precisely what Fev have done to generate such results, but it must be a wonderful feeling for the admin and fans to see it paying off like this.

They're setting an example to everyone.

Featherstone seem to be ignoring the widely held opinion that the Championships are an unwanted backwater and that all the clubs in it are waiting to slowly die off and there's nothing that can be done.

Good for them.

The hairs on my neck not only stood up, but they are now on fire! I am in a hot sweat! I don't know what to do!

Still, it would be sad if the RFL told the club management that they need not bother applying in 2014. Fact is that it would take the dumping of both Wakefield and Castleford in 2015 for Featherstone's bid to be taken seriously. The number of SL clubs in west Yorkshire is already too many. There is a traffic jam.

The letter didn't read "Dominate the Championship", it read "Destination Super League". Hardly ignoring the fact that the Championship is a backwater, more like acknowledgement that it is.

Hang on, I may have misinterpreted the initial post on this thread; does this mean that Fev are making profits, or that they intend to via the shakeup?

That's true of any 2nd tier competition in a way. It's how you plan for, and execute, getting out of it that matters. If all tier 2 clubs followed this plan, you might find that standards rise to the point where the P+R could return.

Forward movement by any club at the moment is big news, all the clubs that have built new stadiums in the last few years have done brilliantly in whats supposed to be one of the worst financial crisis' ever.

I am just proud that at last it looks like its happening to my club and I for one will help in anyway I am able, just as others proudly do at their club

As a whole we are at the end of the day the most passionate fans of any sport in the world.

Whilst increased turnover suggests that profit is more likely than falling turnover, it is not a given.

eg; turnover £1m

takings £1m
wages and other outgoings £800K
profit £200K

turnover £2m

takings £2m
wages and other outgoings £2.2m
loss £200k
Rugby League is a sport that desperately needs to expand its geographical supporter base and its player base. This imperative means that all other requirements are secondary until this is done.

All power in the game should be with governing bodies, especially international governing bodies.

Without these actions we will remain a minor sport internationally and nationally.

You make a valid point. I'd like to hope wages won't go up too much over the 18 month period identified however, not unless the salary cap is scrapped.

I think the RFL will turn Fev's application down. It appears to me that the RFL are trying to keep decent competitive teams in the Championship. We got rid of one of the poorer teams at the end of last season and also rejected the Crusaders from taking their place. So letting one of the Leagues best teams enter Super League would be a huge step backwards.

The club is a breath of fresh air. The only problem is people through the gates. There is so much latent support for Rovers and it is all about getting them to attend games. The 1k season ticket aim is a good start. The club needs to be averaging 2500 by the time the next round of applications come around.

The plans for the ground have shown fantastic initiative.

At present, they'd be my choice to gain a licence in 2014 ahead of Halifax, Leigh and Sheffield (if they choose to apply of course!).
