This weekend, Matt Cecchin revealed he was gay. Apparently, he said that a copy of Ian Roberts' biography about his public coming out inspired him to do likewise.

Hopefully this will get a positive response in Australia, and within the Rugby League community worldwide. Sexuality shouldn't be an issue in sport or any other walk of life, and it would be sad to see him get abuse from fans etc because of it.
It was interesting for me doing the PR for the Eagles/RFL/Pride Sports/LGBT History Month "Homophobia: Tackle It" match last year. The response from RL fans was 95% positive and understanding - it shows that we have less to worry about than some sports (football being the main culprit in this regard).
Incidentally, it's almost a year now since that campaign - LGBT History Month starts soon, and it was timed to coincide with that.
